So I've been thinking on SMT and Persona and naturally I came back to what a masterpiece P4G was. I was listening to some of the music and it reminded me of this idea I've had before.
If you could pick one song from a game's soundtrack to try and represent everything that the game is, which would it be?
For instance, if I had to pick THE song for P4G.... (SPOILER)
True, it's somber while the game is pretty cheerful overall.
It's only the theme for the shortlived winter part.
I don't even think it's in the original game.
But for me, it's absolutely the most powerful song in the game. While it's heartbreaking, it only holds that power because you've given your heart to these characters. You've been through so much, both good and bad, and this song is every bit as beautiful as it is sad.
Another example, this one I've known for a long time. It's for Final Fantasy X. (SPOILER)
As the song that plays when you first to get Zanarkand, when you reach that point you've been building up to for so many hours now, it encapsulates all the emotions you will be feeling in this game. As by far the darkest Final Fantasy in my humble opinion, this song just really gets the mood of the game across so perfectly. The tragedy and whimsy of this fantasy world you've delved into.

I always associate Freeway's Flipside with Def Jam Fight for NY.
A lot of other series I can think of generally have some special opening/ending theme that best represents the game for me so I won't bore you with obvious answers.

My Home, Sweet Home > Dear Friends
c'mon bruh. Dear Friends is good, but I think My Home, Sweet Home is the best song in FFV. Aside from Clash on the Big Bridge, of course.

I did come down to those two themes, but Home Sweet Home is something I associate with Bartz exclusively, whereas Dear Friends is something that I feel incorporates the whole cast. So it represents the game a bit better for me. With that said, Home Sweet Home is the better track, it's a shame it's relegated to an optional area.

The main theme to Zelda is just perfect for the series as a whole. As just simple background music to somber scenes to Big Damn Hero moments. I could also go game by game, but that would take a while.
Final Fantasy XV has an easy one. It's like the game was written around the song.
Simple and Clean is great as well as Hikari, but come on. From the very first game all the way up to Union X it's been there introducing us to the new installment and playing us off after the credits.
Like Zelda I'll choose Final Fantasy as a whole because I don't want to cover thirteen games. It's obviously between the Crystal Theme and Main theme and I'll choose Main Theme.
