EoFF Mafia XXVII Signup Thread

greetings friends, it is time once again to have some fun by trying to kill each other, as it it time for

EoFF Mafia XXVII: Nightmare at Gekkoukan High

Formy and myself will be hosting this game together, and we would love to have you play with us. However we do ask that you read the rules of the game. Note that the theme is purely cosmetic, and the role has nothing to do with the account.

Mafia Rules

• Unless specifically mentioned in your Assignment PMs, all Mafia related discussion must happen in the Official game thread.
• Do not reveal your role privately to each other. You can of course roleclaim as part of your strategy in this thread. Just don't do it outside the game.
• Play nice. Even if you are using second accounts, don't resort to flaming and whatnot. Kill each other without resorting to being mean.
• Please make all posts in the Game thread under your specific Mafia accounts.
• Play fair. Also known as the "don't be a slowpoke (ass)" rule. Being an ass includes cheating, diverging completely from your assigned role, going back and deleting or editing all your posts, using asshole-ish methods to find out information about other people's roles, etc.
• Do NOT use your Mafia accounts to post in any non-Mafia related threads. A protip is to use a different browser for the mafia account, as well as a different forum skin.
• Have fun, remember, this is a game.

• Indicate whether you would like to share an account and who you would like to share with. Keep in mind that we may split you up before the game if not enough people sign up
• Do NOT sign up if you're not going to be an active player! Getting replacements is a pain in the butt!
• Games will last anywhere from 1-2 weeks. Give or take. Keep this in mind when signing up.
• Post any suggestions or questions you might have.

Where is the 'XVII' coming from?

The last "mainline" mafia here was XXV years ago.

The Katamari Damacy one was XVI. :p

This was the last numbered Mafia game I could find (XXV). In fact, there is already a Mafia XVII.

It's OK. I' was just sloppy with roman numerals actually. oops. Should be XXVII. My bad. When Igor gets his forum permissions set I'll fix that. :shobon:

Speaking of Roman numerals...is there any way you or another admin can update the title to "Mafia XXVI"? This game can't be XXVII because there is no XXVI.

This probably shouldn't bother me nearly as much as it does. I swear, these sort of things tilt me like crazy.

Wow counting all the games we totally are not consistent with this numbering thing. It goes 15, Non numbered, non numbered, 17. Then later 22, non, 25, non.

So at this point I think we should just chalk it up to we don't even know what's going on.

Jesus. Alright, that's it...I'm gonna go through the effort of figuring out just what number this game is.

I've been meaning to go back and archive all of the past games anyways. I'll update the host signup thread with all of the past mafia games that have been hosted.

I think they weren't counting the minis as full numbered, I think that was what the most recent was so it's not a numbered. But I'm not sure.

Now that I've delved into the history of EoFF Mafia, I have a ton of interesting facts I thought I would share with everyone.

• The first Mafia game took place on August 28, 2007.
• Mafia III and VIII were never completed. III was placed "on hold" and never resumed, and VIII had seemingly no explanation for why it was closed. It just mysteriously ended.
• Almost a full year took place between several games: Mafia XIII (March 22, 2009) and Mafia XIV (January 26, 2010). XXV (April 1, 2013) and XXVI/Everlasting Love (March 28, 2014) also had almost a full year between them.
• Several Mafia games were not numbered (I, II, III, XVI, XXIII, XXIV, XXVI).
• There are somehow two "Mafia XXI" games. This is where the numbers truly got screwed up.
• Mafia "XXI: History Edition" is improperly numbered. The correct numeration of this game should be Mafia XXII.
• Heroes and Villains Mafia would therefore be Mafia XXIII.
• Anniversary Mafia would therefore be Mafia XXIV.
• Mafia XXV fixes the problem and has the correct title despite there being only one game between itself and "XXII."
• Everlasting Love (Katamari) is officially Mafia XXVI and the last main Mafia game. It took place on March 28, 2014.

XXVII is the correct title for this game.

24 was skipped because there were two 21s. So someone messed up, and then it was corrected down the line. This game is 27 because the Everlasting Love Edition is 26.

Ah, Mafia III. Slowpoke had to ruin it for everyone.

Oh mafia memories. Mafia III had someone actually cheat by hacking into other accounts. It was really bad.
Mafia VIII was just horribly broken and the host decided to end it.

Man that was confusing to go through. At least now we're on the correct path with this game being XXVII. Looks like you were right after all, qwertysaur!

Three more spots before the minimum 12 places are taken up! I'm really impressed with the sign-ups in the first two days.

Is this gonna be more like traditional mafia, or the thing Karifean did?

If by the thing Karifean did you meant the elaborate flavour text killing, I'm fairly certain me and Qwerty will be keeping it traditional. I will just confirm this with him, though.

I mean, just to clarify, there will be flavour text, but the text itself cannot be analysed to give actual clues as to the identities of the assailants, targets, etc.

I mean, 10 people is still plenty of people to play a Mafia game, after all.

You're right, Sruffy! Fynn has extended the submission deadline of his writing event, but I can't extend this any longer that it had already been. Sorry Fynn!

I will be creating the game thread tonight, and you will all recieve your role PMs and passwords shortly after that. I'm implementing a Day Zero which will role immediately into Day One. Day Zero has no lynch phase, its purpose is to make sure everyone has a chance to settle in, role-play a bit, and ensure the majority of players have noted that the game has begun.

Why are you apologizing to me? I'm not taking part in this!

This damn Mafia better make everyone involved play Persona 3 if they haven't already, or else!
