Star Wars Question! Who is the most powerful Darth?

Okay, Your Good Friend Devil Man really, REALLY needs your help, people!

I was recently watching the ENTIRE Star Wars saga, back to back, in one crazed 15 hour session. I was like this by the time it finished ---> :strung:

One thing struck me throughout the series. That Darth Vader is a bit of a wuss and no way near the bad-ass I always thought he was.

My question is this: Who is the most powerful Darth in the WHOLE of the Star Wars History? Like... this includes everything! Including all the games, films, cartoon series, comics, etc, etc... who is the most powerful Darth to ever have existed?

I read somewhere it is Darth Revan, who was one of the first Darth's, but I aint too sure :( Can anyone fill me in on this?

It was long ago when I watched Star Wars, and I stopped watching it when it went 'kiddy', so I'd still say Darth Vader.

Vader owns all.

Darth Revan is pretty badass

Revan. I was such a good Padawan.

Do you mean the most powerful Sith, or just the most powerful Sith to take on the title of Darth? Either way, whatever Azar says is right.

See, I've become bit of a Star Wars geek in recent weeks. I was watching the scene where Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine tells Anakin about the very first Darth who was worried about his family and discovered the 'dark side' etc, etc... (I may have got a little mixed up there. It was late at night).

Anyhoo, I was more interested in the history of the Darths so I dipped in and did further research to find out more. For anyone else who is interested, this is a list of the Darth's:

And now I am trying to figure out who was the most powerful Darth of them all. But I get confused with all the Sith stuff at the same time. Because I thought a Darth was representative of the most powerful Sith's, right? :confused: At any rate, Darth Vader wasn't the most outright powerful Darth of them all. Darth Revan was a heck of a lot more powerful and probably more evil:

And their was a female Darth, who was pretty darn evil, Darth Talon who came way after Darth Vader:

And out of all of the Post-Darth Sidious Darth's, Darth Krayt was very evil and, ummm, very bad:

So yeah, I am trying to work out who is the most evil Darth/Sith and who it is that actually represents the Sith philosophy and beliefs.

As I said... I am becoming bit more of a Star Wars geek in recent weeks so I am interested in this! :tongue:

Darth Revan is from the Knights of the Old Republic games, and he is definitely very cool.

But after being mind-wiped he returned to the Jedi (well, you get to decide in the game whether he does or not, but officially he became "good" again) to stop his former co-conspirator and apprentice Darth Malak from taking over the galaxy. :mad:


Hopefully we will get a final KoTOR game to answer the question of whether Revan's turn to the Dark Side was visionary genius on his part or a totally misguided quest for forbidden power.

Actually the KoTOR games have some pretty nifty Darths, but in terms of power I'll go with Darth Sidious from the movies. This guy succeeded in taking over the galaxy and making the Chosen One his puppet. He effectively eliminated the Jedi Order that had survived for thousands of years. How much of that was his Force abilities and how much was simply his intelligence and cunning? It's hard to say, but the results are devastating and unmistakable. His one flaw was allowing himself to grow overconfident over his hold on Vader. Oh, and IMNSHO he pwned Yoda. ;)

(SPOILER)REvan (LORD REVAN) sucks PLay Knights of the old republic one adn you will play as him u get knocked out by your apprentice and captured by jedi and train to become a ejdi all over again and Malak is killed and bladdy bla bla and Kotor 2 has all ready been released yonks ago adn has nothing to do with the first so i doubt the 3rd will have anything to do with it


The best is Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious cuz if u read the Young jedi knights books u learn that the Universe is tricked into beliving that he is still alive =D

Yeah, I think you did get a little bit mixed up. He was telling Anakin about Darth Plagueis, who wasn't the first Darth, but he was Sidious's master.

Revan was far from the first Darth. KotoR explains that originaly Sith were an evil race way far back in time to remember, but they were all wiped out. The dark jedi just emulated them, but were thought extinct. Reven was just among the first two to rediscover the Sith powers.

Kreia was Revan's master. She also mentions what she believes Revan's purpose was in becoming a Sith Lord: Revan possibly uncovered information regarding a threat beyond the galaxy regarding the "ancient Sith" a race from Korriban that adopted some exiled fallen Jedi as their pseudo-gods and rulers. IIRC they tried to conquer the galaxy but the Jedi crushed them, with some remnants of their civilization possibly escaping beyond the edges of the galaxy. Kreia implies that it is the existence of this threat, these "True Sith" that Revan uncovered, and that he believed he needed to understand and perhaps wield their Dark Side power to stop them. He also saw the Republic and the Jedi and their passive philosophy entirely unprepared to deal with the "true threat" and so, probably being used by the Dark Side to a great extent, attempted to take over the Republic himself. At the end of KoTOR2 the Exile flies off in search of Revan.

Sure, the game is only loosely connected to KoTOR1 in terms of characters and story, but it set up the situation for the completion of the story in the third game, if we ever get one...we have to see what Revan uncovered beyond the edge of the galaxy and what the Jedi Order, now consisting of the Exile and his apprentice-friends, can do to stop it.

Does this include the Dark Jedi, long before siths? if so, i would say Exar-Kunn, as he was really powerful, first person to fuse 2 lightsabres into 1, to create a double lightsabre, and he killed his mentor Master Vodo-Siosk-Bass, who weilded a lightsabre resistant staff

I don't read much pre-original series stuff, because I think a lot of it is crap. So I'm just going to go with Exar Kun. Maybe he wasn't technically a Darth, but Dark Lord of the Sith is close enough. He killed an entire race of people just to drain their power and bind his spirit to the temples of Yavin 4. That's pretty hardcore. :p

If the new Legacy of the Force series continues on the path it's on, I think (SPOILER)Jacen Solo may just become the most powerful Sith Lord/Darth ever. ;) They probably won't let him, though. Too many fans would be upset.

I would say that Palpatine is the most powerful of the Dark Lords in the movies. Which other villains do you know that suceeded in almost entirely destroying the heroes, corrupting the Chosen One, taking over almost the entire galaxy, and almost suceeding in becoming the supreme ruler of the universe, all while slowly corrupting the Republic from the inside out?

I don't read the books or comics.

For the video games, Revan wins. The main character of KOTOR is actually Revan himself. He's one of the few Sith that fought not out of greed or lust for power, but to try to save the galaxy. He's also one of the few Sith that have managed to turn back to the light side of the Force after falling to the dark side. Destroying the entire Sith Empire and the Star Forge as nearly a one-man army is also pretty damn impressive.

For me, Darth Maul. Hes half bad-ass, half kick-ass, well really now hes just 2 halves. he was the first sith lord I saw do battle. And hes got an awesome design. ONly reason he lost was because he under-estimated Obi Wan. If he didn't, Vader would have never existed. And he had a dual lightsaber. That kicked ass.



Is it just me or does talon look like a mix between Ayala and Darth Maul?

Indeed, there are few games in which the player has ever controlled a character more insanely powerful, given what that character was able to accomplish, than the final "chapter" of KoTOR.

Darth Nihilus destroyed whole planets with the force alone, if I remember it correctly. You can't get much stronger than that, imho.

I'd have to say Darth Sidious, as he manipulated the Clone Wars right under the noses of both the Senate AND the Jedi, and also kept his true identity as a Sith Lord a secret from the Jedi for a LONG, LONG TIME.

Nihilus consumed entire planets. Some say that he was without control, but it must be then mentioned that he was capable of using the force to lift his ENTIRE flagship from its orbit around the planet of Malachor V, and kept it together even though it was not space-worthy. He also fought with an aggressive one-handed stance.

He may have been the most powerful.

Read the graphic novels and you'll find Vader is by no means a wuss. What he did in Episodes 3-6 was nothing to what he did off-screen. Cruel, abusive of his powers, Vader also sent assassins after his own assassins, obliterating innocent bystanders after condemning others to death for exactly the same crime and was potentially on course to treacherously overthrow Palpatine, and the Emperor knew it

I choose Sidious because I'm in love with him and biased.

I have always loved Vader, and I still do, but I have to say that Revan pwns all.

Revan > Vader > All

Actually, the dual sided lightsaber is an incredibly stupid design, and it is a testament to Ray Park's skill that he could actually wield it with any effectiveness, even in a mock duel.

Hmm, very true... But potential is worthless unless it is had.

And as for Nihilus needing a device to aid him in total annihilation of select planets, I am not certain as to if he did or did not need one. I do believe that he could only destroy certain planets, however, saying that they were "force-sensitive"... or something to that effect. I am a tad hazy...

I'm pretty certain not. Might you be thinking of the Mass Shadow Generator that the Exile used to destroy Malachor V? If so, Nihilus didn't have it.

Strictly speaking, Nihilus didn't "use the Force" to destroy planets either.

He represented a void in the Force that he could use to his advantage by leaching/sucking the Force from his extended surroundings. I believe a "Force Vampire" is probably a good analogy, though on a massive scale. He destroyed planets by depriving them of the Force, which killed the life of those planets (and I believe leaving them as lifeless rocks in space as opposed to exploding them or ripping them apart--though I could be mistaken). This is also why the Exile was able to defeat him where any other Jedi could not, because the Exile himself was a void and channeled the Force through others as Nihilus did, so when the dark lord tried to channel the Force through the Exile he only weakened himself.

Emperor Tenebrae/Vitiate/Valkorian is my serious answer. No other Sith has even come close. The only thing in the universe I can think of that was ever more powerful is Abeloth, but she wasn't a Darth.

There was an EU story pre-Disney-retcons that had Exar Kun become some kind of all-powerful force ghost that took Luke and a handful of the other most powerful Jedi a long time to suppress, then ultimately "banish" or some other totally-not-a-death-analogue. I think I remember reading stuff about how he was the most powerful force user ever depicted at the time, but this was at least 15 years ago. Don't know how the atmosphere has changed since then. If we go by prequel midichlorian rules, then it would technically be Anakin as Vader, but only in terms of raw power and not skill, abilities, or general ruthlessness. Plus he lost a lot of his midichlorian count when his limbs were severed, despite ending up extremely powerful regardless.

Also, I would also argue Revan. Tenebrae is god tier, and Revan is the one who was able to resist and mentally influence Tenebrae.

Could they 1v1 in Halo? Probably not. But I think "powerful" can cover more than just raw output.
