Rooting for Nagito. HOPE TRUMPS DESPAIR
I kinda want the vengeful spirit role to be in there just cause that sounds like it'd cause chaos hahaQuote:
Here's a list of roles which mmmmmmmay or may not be in play! Who knows! I'm also not telling how many there are of each or which one is aligned with which side - I want you smart little prodigies you to figure it out on your own!
- Godfather - will always come up as Vanilla Hope's Peak Academy Student when killed
- Goon - can kill at Nighttime
- Roleblocker - can block another player's night action
- Tracker - can determine who the player is targeting with their action, as well as who is targetting them. No specifics regarding what action is being performed, however
- Vengeful Spirit - upon being lynched, they place a Grudge on one of the people who voted for them, ensuring that they will wake up dead in the morning!
- Doctor - protects a player from being killed by Ultimate Despair
- Cop - can determine a player's alignment and ability
Maybe the cook is too busy making all the students fed! Everyone deserves to eat, no matter what Monokuma says!
*insert Soup Nazi reference here*
Think I'm going to temporarily change my avatar, to prevent confusion and/or association since Kyoko is in this game.
Also, wow, is it jarring to try to stay somewhat in character and then have the thread explode into meta discussions. I know not everyone likes roleplaying, but jeez.
Usually on EoFF people roleplay for a while (typically their opening post or two), then drop the act and get down into the nitty gritty at... well, actually about the mid-point of Day One. Bonus points if someone trying to be serious then goes "Guys stop roleplaying we need to be serious".
It is a rare talent to both roleplay and do serious metagaming and heavy discussions and all that.
WAT I can role play just fine thank you very much :colbert:
I, demonstrably, cannot.
I've never played the game so I can't really roleplay my character sadly!
I can keep up the role play a while but I've never even heard of this game so you know. Hard to do at all then.
I have no idea what I'm doing
You could start by lynching someone! :D
I don't know what that means. I assume you don't mean literally?
Every day all remaining players cast a vote for who should be lynched, i.e. eliminated from the game. Majority decides, and not lynching anyone is also an option. This is the Town's only opportunity to get rid of Mafia (at least in this game) but of course it can backfire just as much, which is why you'll always have arguments over Lynch on Day 1 vs No Lynch on Day 1, as Day 1 is always the day where there's the least information in circulation.
Make sure you vote using the following format:
[##Vote: *character name*]
Otherwise, I just won't count your vote. It's hard enough to keep up with everyone's votes as is
Hmm, "mountainous" games sound like they'd probably mainly be fun to play with a group of IRL friends where you can actually read each other's actions and reactions.
Just make sure the person you lynch is white. It's a hate crime otherwise.
This is tricky because Monokuma is black AND white
Interested to see how day one ends. People have played very cautiously to this point.
I know, this is probably the most cautious Day One for awhile.
And after all that, a No Lynch happens anyway xD
I think almost every game this year has ended in a no lynch Day One. What a strange pattern!
Not that it was apparently intentional this time around
Yeah, 4/5 people wanted a lynch and the people were failed by a cruel and twisted bear and his dice.
For shame.
Interesting how the end result was entrusted to the roulette of fate, though =P
Every damn game I've played someone has survived either the day or night 1 phase. It's a bit ridiculous at this point. I'll have to stop playing so the early body counts can be higher.
Ahhh I got busy at work and didn't get a chance to vote. Who I was going to vote for... A head would have rolled. Sorry Slothy.
Oh no! You were going to decapitate my favourite character were you?
I'm almost surprised there weren't results before I got up. Then I remembered how casually paced this game has been.
Casually paced or not, the suspense is still killing me.
Two and a half hours left. Unless, of course, we get all the remaining night actions submitted before that.
Actually, with a pre-set deadline, it's best to let it run out even if all night actions have been submitted in order to keep the players from metagaming.
The last thing you want is "Player X was online right before night ended, they must have been sending the kill! Lynch Player X!" and then oops cop gets forced to claim because of the host's actions.
Noted
Aside from Bleys I don't think anyone on this forum would actually try to do that.
Not saying it's a bad idea, I just doubt anyone here is going to go to that length to sniff out folks in mafia. Especially since you pointed out yourself it won't really tell you anything.
Well that's a first.
I did the exact opposite of what fynn told me. He said "one rule, don't die." I said I'll try not to and welp.
See that's what you get when you don't listen to me
Also, bleys. We have second accounts for a reason that limit even staff from seeing when someone is online. So unless people are somehow able to see more than even staff, no one should be able to connect who's online to the mafia accounts.
Unless they correctly connect the account to who's playing it and correlate that with the online status of the main account, or work out what times of day given players post most frequently on, or looks at some factor I haven't thought of.
And yes, I know that's unlikely, but sticking with pre-telegraphed deadlines gives zero chance for that type of metagaming to occur, and zero probability is preferable to a small probability.
Lisa needs braces.
Bleys needs to realise that the current EoFF Meta is to reject other Metas.
I vomit in my mouth a little bit when I hear the word meta.
=/
Sweet zombie jesus...
So much blood.
Well town's screwed.
Well by the looks of it it's either 4v3 or 5v2 at the moment. So it's not necessarily over yet.
There aren't 7 players alive, there are 10, with a possible doc in the mix.
Using the usual formula of floor(numPlayers/4) yields 3 scum, maybe 4 if town is stacked with power, but there has been enough power in the flipped roles to rule out a 2-man scumteam
Vengeful Spirit is potent as hell--that's the role that snatched victory from the jaws of my incompetence in a game I was in a couple years back
Oh right. For some reason I didn't count the red and crossed-out votes in the vote tally and just counted the white names in brackets to arrive at 7. My bad.
It's been a slow yet good game. It's been fun!
Oooo no one died
Finally a bit of a win for town. Good job guys! That was close as smurf.
Jesus christ this game.
I've been saying that since D1.
I has been a great game so far. Can't wait to see how this dual cop plays out.
God, finally
Whoa, majority lockdowns are a thing in this game. Wasn't prepared for that quick day phase end.
That
was
exhausting
We lynched Ultimate Despair! Finally!
can you read tho
I can read just fine, thank you.
but can you tho
Who's this Jimmy you guys keep talking about?
Oh, I love Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! It's a hilarious show!
10/10, would murder in their sleep again.
Honestly, rereading this game now - you guys are making a lot of assumptions :p
Host interference!
Monokuma, Monokuma has broken the rules!
Oh wait...
Hey, I never stated if they were right or wrong assumptions :p
Mafia is a game of assumptions.
This game is spiraling out of control faster than any I've played before.
I love it.
EDIT: Erm... Rather, I loved it.
This was quite fun while it lasted. I'm shocked I even made it that far in my first game here.
It's been a pleasure playing with you. Hopefully you join in on the next one. :)
Of course he will, he's my other forum bestie and is therefore morally obligated to play
(I am kid, please play my game ;__; )
Worry not, y'all will continue to see me in the next game, and probably the next, and so on. ;) I love Mafia and I've really enjoyed my time on this forum so far.
What's your avatar from, Kleiner? I know it was Kyoko but I'm not sure who this crazy looking character is.
Right now it's Ragyo Kiryuin, the absurdly vile main antagonist of Kill la Kill, my favorite anime and something I tend to breathlessly recommend every time it comes up. I was going to change it to something else after the game, probably another of my favorite villains, but it's kind of grown on me.
Just read all of Yasuhiro's stuff. Good to know my death was at least useful in narrowing and pinning down some scum. :3
That lottery ticket was an absolute game-changer.
Nagito where are youuuu
Well played Laddy!
Well nerts.
*sigh*
Well played FFNut. I think you've done some damage despite your unceremonious demise.
Thanks for playing, Nutty! :3: Hope that got you into the swing of things again and you'll join the next one too! ;) It's always nice to have you around for a game!
I tried. I knew when I was wrong on the cop I was toast. Went down swinging.
Good game Nutty!
I am excited for what happend in the night.
GG pumpkin.
Thanky~ I had so much fun, awesome game Fynn!
Yeah, you played a really good game, Pumpkin!
Well played Pumkin.
Thank you all for sticking around until the end! It was fun to run my first mafia game, and I hope you all had a great time as well! My greatest hope for the game with the special rules was to make the game fresh and exciting every day. Whether that worked or not - you guys tell me. All feedback is very much welcome!
Will post a summary of all the night actions later on in case anyone's interested!
Holy trout I can't believe it. That was a crazy game.
Mafia chat, in case anyone wants to know why we did what we did.
Well, that was rather depressing and anticlimactic. One might say... despair-inducing.
Great game, though. Again, I had a lot of fun with what little time I was a living participant. And g'job, Fynn! You were an excellent game runner and a pitch-perfect Monokuma!
There's a certain irony in playing the Ultimate Lucky Student and losing the game to a coin toss, isn't there. Well, it was a good game. Still a bit bummed nobody responded to my call to lynch Sonia and Gundham instead of Nekomaru but well, I was too late I guess.
Also I love the reactions to my plays in the Mafia chat xD thanks for the compliments Formy
I tried to convince the others. Couldn't get them to follow me in the end. Had a blast playing again though.
I had a great time being mafia for a change. I can't believe we ultimately won the way the end of that game was going (ps: if it weren't for that climax we lost so don't feel like you guys did poorly at all).
It was a pleasure to steal the title of ultimate lucky student though.
(Danganronpa 2 Spoilers)I would be willing to believe that Nagito actually wished for this outcome deep down and his luck made it happen =P
GG, guys! Good job, mafia!
I'm taking a perverse joy in watching Bleys agonize over my reasoning. What can I say? Everything you did the whole time felt suspicious. I wanted to vote on you day one, but I knew I couldn't get a bandwagon going with no reasoning, and I didn't want to get killed off early. I figured you guys would be fingering me for cop early on. So I waited until I knew we could get you lynched. My whole Leon debate with you was just to really make you more of a target the next day. You claiming cop was a perfect turn of events for me. Thanks!
Too bad FFNut was really confident Bleys was innocent. It really did screw us all.
EDIT: I was very close to investigating Celeste (Laddy) and Sonia (Formy) initially. I erased Sonia and put Kyoko (Kleiner Killer) because she kept mentioning me. Initially I found Sonia more suspicious. If I hadn't been so convinced Neko was mafia, I'd have been targeting her.
Seems I'm about as accurate as most fortune tellers seem to be!
Great game guys, I had so much fun!
Your reasoning? There was one player who made a lick of sense to me up until the moment I copclaimed, and that was Leon. You (the plural you this time) didn't kill him, but only because you knew Fynn was going to do it for you. Like I said in the scum QT, none of that frustration was fake. I would have self-destructed as town, too.
WOMP WOMP WOMP.
What a fun game! And yeah I totally knew Slothy wasn't town when he did the opposite of what he said he was going to do (troll bleys, sorry bleys it was gonna be fun. Everyone's crazy logic seemed to do it though ha) I was like "Yeah that seems fun! Let's do it!" and then he didn't and it was just me doing it. So then it was obvious to him who I was. So it was Slothy and Bleys as mafia in my mind after day one. THEN they wacked me before I could even work at that. Good call on that.
THIS IS WHY FRIENDS SHOULDN'T PLAY.
Friends don't let friends play mafia.
Well played Town! Seriously without the Climax, Town would have won from simple process of elimination. I mentioned it several times that Town had effectively all confirmed each other. Without the Climax gamble, they would've won, so this was a really tight race.
Just to confirm that yes, I was Sonia, the Ultimate Despair Roleblocker. My main strategy was to just go with the flow and play how I would normally play, which worked I think, for the most part. I never really came under much heat. I let my Despair allies be more vocal and more experimental.
I really enjoyed the game. The special rules helped balance the game after the three student massacre at the end of Day Two.
Good game! Sorry I couldn't participate a bit more actively. I was Sakura, by the way.
Throughout the game at home Mr. Carny was like "I think you're Mafia" and then I had to put on this sad puppy look and feign hurt at him accusing me so.
To be fair, he was saying this since the first Day so part of it was probably in jest.
My third game in a row of deliberately not making much of an impression ended in success. Yes! This game was super fun if very stressful and maddening!
tbh if I hadn't copread you so hard D3 we probably would have won then and there because good luck making a case on me after I'd abandoned reason in favour of going for cheap laughs.
I count drawing the NK in Scruff's game as a victory, and you should feel the same about making me copread you.
