Messing with the nation Anthem

So people one of the most controversial things happening here is a debate concerning the national anthem...During New Years Eve time fire works will spurt and a disco version of the anthem will be played...

what are your views? should an anthem be changed/remixed/heard to fit in with this "younger generation"?

Im only 28 and i heard it and i think it sounds horrible its like messing with the flag....i seriously dont think it should be played!

I dont really think its a too good of an idea. I've heard that some old folks are really angry about the whole thing, but hey what can u do? It will probably just be a techno beat with the lyrics played a bit faster.

I'm 21 and I believe it shouldn't be changed. Half the feeling you get from singing it comes from the sound. Before doing something like that they should have put it to a vote. I'm pretty sure it would loose but thats the right thing to do, even it it won.

if it is then I am totally against it...im 14 and ive heard it and thats no way to treat something that means so much to Australia...And they even put in an upbeat party version of Waltzing Matilda...Thats not even a part of our anthem!

I think we should keep our Anthem, but then I am a monarchist. Trying to destory our hertage to americanise ourselves is sad really, what your nation is should be teasured not sold off.

If you're going to butcher your national anthem, why not add a giant penis to your flag?

You should never mess around with your anthem. A national anthem represents your country, so if you want something crappy and new why not have Justin Timberlake sing it? Anthems should stay as they are. :mad:

I support changing the tune to something a bit more noble than an old British drinking song.
