Hajima Tabata is gearing up for a new project in 2018.

With the release of FFXV:Comrades this month, Episode Ignis due out next month, and the PC port of FFXV well on it's way; Tabata has mentioned in interviews he's ready to move on from FFXV and begin working on a new project next year. While he has said in previous interviews he would love to try out a Breath of the Wild type open world game, there is no info on what this next project will be.

Chances are it may not be a large project since SE has displayed more interest in Mid-Sized titles and slowing down on AAA title development for awhile. On the other hand, this may also mean that beyond some gameplay patches, XV may soon be "complete" as well.
