You could've made a post like this at any point in the site's history. It has never stayed still.
I might be wrong but even if EoFF suddenly got 100 active posters for the rest of the year, I don't know if we'd have the Ciddies again. I'm super nerdy and checked out the average age of our current top 10 posters and our top 10 posters 15 years ago, in 2004. Right now it's 31 and back then it was 18. What an 18 year old wants from an online community is very different from what a 31 year old wants. We're all growing and changing. Or at least, I am. I was a moron back then and now I've blossomed into an idiot. :greenie:
The only person to make both top 10 lists is of course BoB. I came very close but was #11 in 2004...!

I've also come back to the forum after a very long hiatus (mostly due to my excitement for the remake release) and I was very happy to see familiar usernames still posting.
You're probably more likely to see familiar faces than new ones, I would guess.
EoFF used to be where all the younguns hung out, but now they're all on Read it and Instantgram. Those whippersnappers.

Hey guys! Just checking in. I last posted 2 years ago basically checking in as well. My last post was in 2007! I joined this place 18 years ago....sheesh. I joined FFWA even earlier in the Summer of 2001. I truly miss the old days of message boards and Web 1.0 madness.

Well, SARS-1 came out back when I joined and now we have SARS-2. So really, nothing has changed. Except, I can now post on here while on the toilet. That future was unfathomable in '01.

Yup, definitely creeped the site before pulling the trigger to join. The forums were much wilder in the mid-2000s. I remember arguing long into the night on the ffvii threads and convincing people to buy a ps3 lol. Now we're on the eve of the PS5!
It's crazy how much this place was part of my daily life for years and now I barely remember to stop in and check things out.

Yep. Forums across the board are dying off. Few people really have a desire to write a full length post about their thoughts on something any longer and have gone to the platforms that allow them to post quick reactions to things. You really have to be Star Wars or Marvel to still have pretty active forums these days.
I'm sure once Disney buys Square Enix, FF fansites will get a resurgence!
