I got hold of a copy earlier this year. It's such an improvement over the Dreamcast. That encounter rate was killing me.
Yep. It's a toss up between FF9, Chrono Cross and Skies of Arcadia. The 3 feel-good RPGs that spring to mind.
The graphics are looking pretty good to me. I don't think there's any downgrade between the trailers. It's just that you get to see the character faces in the new trailer. And they look stupid!

Character Driven Plots
Functional Towns
Atmospheric Dungeons
Traversable World Map...
Anything that's just a plain cave really. Quite a few in FF6. A couple in FF10, most notably the omega ruins.
Loads of them in Crisis Core.
