Thread: Question about levels...

    Default Question about levels...

I cant remember for the life of me, but if i focus on persay like Zell, Selphie and well of course squall...can i ride the game with just these 3?

One thing i hate is when rpgs will have characters sitting in your parties getting no exp, then eventually a part spring up when you have to create like 2 or 3 parties of the people you have but then those side chars are weak as crap.

Its ashame here because Quistis and Rinoa are like lvl 13 and 11, while squall is 24 and zell/selphie are 20 and 18, im working to even them up right now.

But is it safe to do so or will i be forced at any points to use rinoa/quistis.

You will have to use them, yes, but it doesn't matter what their levels are. The enemy's levels are based on your character's levels, so the difficulty will adjust with the party. Just switch your junctions over and you'll be fine.

I was under the impression that it was squalls level...so it will just take the party as a whole and decipher the difficulty from that?

Bah i hate that level scaling crap only downfall of this game in my eyes.

    Enemy level = ((Character 1's level + Character 2's level + Character 3's level) / 3 ) * 0.8 OR 1.2

    Ah ok...got it.

One more question...do Grendels spawn on the first disc? I cant seem to find one anywhere...

It says forests of timber, there are a few patches...are they common enemies or very rare?

Yea, Roshfall Forest (large one near Timber) and outside G-Garden, I think.

I think the level scaling is based on the current party's average: It wouldn't be fair for the game to yoink a LV100 Squall from the party, and leave you fighting LV100 monsters with your spare team of LV14s.

Don't gain levels. Just keep everyone's as low as possible. Seriously.

Most monsters in FFVIII are based on the Average Party Level. There are a few exceptions to this such as the monsters on Island Closest to Heaven and Island closest to Hell are always Level 100. Also, certain bosses are always certain levels too, such as Omega Weapon, who is always Level 100.

Except in the PC version. He obeys normal level laws then.

Enemies in the Lunatic Pandora are always Lv1, which is why they give out pitiful EXP.

It is best, actually, to keep your level as low as possible and focus more on getting magic to improve your skills. Getting GFs the AP they need to learn their abilities will be good. I remember beating the game with my characters between lvl 30 and 40.

Wow, I'm a leveling freak, I leveled all my entourage and Squall to level 100. I didn't play the card game at all, so I'm starting over to finish the game completely.
