I think he's alluding to the 6 degrees of separation theory...that any two people on the planet have no more than 6 degrees of separation, ie//

Me -Who knows-> Person 1 -Who Knows-> Person 2 -Who Knows-> Person 3 -Who Knows-> Person 4 -Who Knows-> Sean Bean.

Now it's figuring out the intermediary people that tends to be tricky.
