How do you unlock Zack?
By getting the black hair dye and using it on Cloud during battle. After battle it will be revealed that Cloud was Zack all along but he hated Aeris so much he never wanted to see her again so he had to dye his hair so she would not recognise him.
Why doesn't Tifa just smack Aeris to the floor and say "Cloud's mine hoebag!!" And then run off with Cloud leaving Aeris to get impaled by Sephi?
She would ever admit, but secretly is more worried about the condition of her nails than any progress Aeris might make with Cloud.

Well it's something you can do on the way to reviving Aeris: You can call the whole thing off and revive Bugenhagen instead, though you have to wait until Disc 3 to do it, and make sure you have everything in place before Red gets his Limited Moon.
