The two were then shot dead. Although nothing is canonically confirmed, Tidus is basically the dream counterpart of Shuyin, heck, Shuyin even uses all of Tidus' Overdrives* and sometimes, at the start of that fight, Jecht will yell "Put that crybaby to sleep!"
