Thread: Final Fantasy Villains Tier (Main Villains)

  1. #1

Default Final Fantasy Villains Tier (Main Villains)

After this part is completed, I'll make another thread for the lesser villains. But this topic is for the primary antagonists. We will decide who is the strongest, second strongest and so-forth. Use the most powerful incarnations of all characters.

Sin is the main bad guy of FFX. Not Seymour. Or rather, Yu Yevon is the main bad guy.

We're going by story. Not game mechanics.

    So, rank them.

    1. Sin: large monster, gets reborn multiple times, killed (presumably) millions
    2. Kefka: Havn't actually finished VI, but am informed he actually does destroy world.
    3. Chaos: Is basically Satan. Nuff said.
    4. Ultamecia: Had to be sealed away in space, still managed to possess Edea.
    5. Sephiroth: Would not have been a villian if not for Jenova. But still had pure strength and killed most of Nibelheim.
    6. Kuja: Sucks.

I can't rank the rest on account of the fact that I havn't played far enough into the games to judge them.

    Which FF Character Are You?

Sin/Yu Yevon is not a villain. He is an antagonist. Seymour is the villain of FFX by default, as he is the only one with sinister intentions with enough screen time. I noticed that you've used both the word 'antagonist' and 'villain' to describe what you want though, so which is this thread dealing with?

Also, what do you mean by 'main villain'. For example, Zeromus is almost a God but Golbez has far more screen time, which in most cases would make him the primary villain. Unless by 'main villain' you mean 'the one in control of everything', in which more conflict arises over Exdeath and Neo Exdeath (assuming you are including antagonists and not just villains). Exdeath is obviously the main villain of FFV, yet it could be said that his desire to gain dominance over the Void consumed him, controlled him if you like, and his inevitable underestimation of the void in addition to the Void playing a significant role in the games backstory (ie the story of Enuo) makes IT the main villain and by extension its physical incarnation: Neo Exdeath.

    So yeah, clarification plz kthx

The Void was a sentient thing? It could be counted as a villain?

Anyway, yes, the "one controlling everything" is the main villain. Edea got more screentime than Ultamecia. So did Seifer. But Ultamecia is the main badgirl.

    4. Ultamecia: Had to be sealed away in space, still managed to possess Edea.
Adel was the one sealed in space.

I don't think you necessarily need to be sentiend to be an antagonist but yeah, the Void was at least sentient after it consumed Exdeath and became Neo Exdeath. I mean, it has lines.

Anyway, if it was antagonists you meant:

    1. Neo Exdeath

    2. Zeromus

    3. Cloud of Darkness

    4. Trance Kuja

    5. Exdeath

    6. Sin/Yu Yevon

    7. Kefka

    8. Ultimecia

    9. Sephiroth

    10. Garland

    11. Emperor

Didn't bother including spin-offs, or Vayne since I haven't played enough of FFXII to see him do anything.

If villains, skip the first two + sin and add Seymour after Sephiroth.

Well, yeah, once it was part of a sentient thing, it became sentient. I was just inquiring as to the Void as...the Void itself.

    5. Exdeath

    6. Sin/Yu Yevon

    7. Kefka
You’re saying Kefka is weaker than Sin and regular Ex-Death? I don’t think God Kefka is weaker than the regular old version of Exdeath and definitely not Sin.

Sin was big...but it has been around for 1000 years. And beaten about...4 times. So, if a Calm lasts 10 years, 40 years out of a thousand. And yet Spira’s civilization still persists rather well. Plus the Crusaders drive it off. You think a band of soldiers could drive off God Kefka? He’d vape them with the Light of Judgment.

Sephiroth couldn't even destroy a planet withouth meteor, which takes far to long to hit. He coudln't do near the damage Meteor could on its own. The Likes of Kefka could destroy any spot across the globe at his leisure, and Kuja was strong enough to destroy an entire world on his own in his trance form.

    1. Kuja
    2. Kefka
    3. Zeromus
    4. ExDeath
    5. Ultimetica
    6. Sephiroth
    7. Chaos
    8. Dark Cloud
    9. Emperor P.
    10. Sin/Yu-YEvon

I didn't really put much thought into the positioning of those three. Ultimately, they're all entities that can completely smurf over planets (Exdeath with the void, Sin with its gravity magic, Kefka with the power of the statues). I just put Exdeath at the top because even without the power of the Void, he was still an intimidating entity (or at least presumed to be, since the Dawn Warriors had to seal him away rather than dealing with him directly).

Really, I should have put Sin above the other two, since he was an 'uber' entities for a greater proportion of the game.

Kefka- damn near destroys the world, and becomes a god.
    Kuja- Destroys a world.
Emperor- Uses cyclone of doom to destroy several cities, then takes over Hell (and Heaven, at least in DoS)
Chaos- Meh, keeps the world in darkness for 2000 years. That's gotta count for something.
Sephiroth- doesn't really stand out, power-wise.
Zemus- Didn't really accomplish all that much
    Ultimecia- See above

And I can't really judge the others yet. I'm working on the other games, though.

Of the villains that i know more about:

1 - Ultimecia: Capable of absorb time and space(existence itself)
2 - Kuja: Destroyed a world and can open a portal to the source of all life in the universe(Crystal World)
    3 - Kefka: Destroyed a world
4 - Sephiroth: Controll over a great part of the Lifestream
