But what is the purpose of dexterity, vitality, spirit?
My apologies if this has already been discussed.

This is an off-wall-guess but I would say they affect Hit and Evade, HP gain, and Magic Defense respectively. That's what I always thought they were but I could be totally wrong.![]()
I figured out after i posted that dexterity affects the time it takes for your character to be able to do an action.
the others im still blank on, and thanks.
Vitality reduces physical damage taken
Spirit reduces magic damage taken
Dex is your speed
No idea if they do anything else![]()
Stop hunting the Vlakorados for there nuts!
Why do people a some that new people (N00bs) are stupid? They're new that's it, stop steriotyping them please.I dont want to sound n00bish
Dexterity: Affects the speed of ATB gauge and Defence%.
(Dex / 4) + armour's Def% = final Defence% value.
Vitality: Affects the damage taken from physical attacks.
Vit + armour's Defence = final Defence value.
Spirit: Affects the damage taken from magical attacks.
Spirit = final MDefence value. The MDef of armour is ignored.
You're almost right... Vitality and Spirit do the above on paper, but absolutely nothing in practice. Seriously, I've never known any enemy to do different damage to anyone at any level at all. Things that do 100 damage when you first meet them at level 10 will still do 100 damage when you're level 99, as opposed to, say, 1 damage, which you'd expect. The defensive stats in the game only seem to work if you augment them with a Hero Drink.
I think that's just in 9. However, consulting TFergusson's Battle Mechanics FAQ on gamefaqs.com might yield a correct answer. Let's take a look-see here...
Hrm. He's got nothing on Steal. Odd.
Oh well.
Stealing depends on the level of the character and the level of the target. The larger the difference between the two, the higher the chance of success. There are some exceptions, such as Vagyrisk Claws from Bagrisks. In that situation you've the best chance at Lv11 and zero chance at Lv77+.
OMG!! I've played FFVII eight years ago and I've learned that only now!![]()
Talk is cheap because supply exceeds demand.
