I agree, FFIV Hard Type for SNES (and the PSX version) is the hardest FF game I've played. I was playing with the fastest speed, so the bosses are a nightmare because they act so quickly, and fighting (SPOILER)Zeromus is really hard. If you don't act really quickly, he'll cast two Big Bangs in one turn, which will most likely annihilate your party, or at least your mages (healers), and then you're pretty much done for. To make the SNES version easier, reduce the battle speed. I had to turn the battle speed to the lowest to defeat bosses like (SPOILER)Odin and Bahamut.

I'd call it harder than most FFs. on my first try, baigan took me ages to beat. carry on trying with the game. i agree with how much levels change the difficulty. the first time i fought zeromus i lost. after 2 or 3 level ups he became pretty easy.

It gets easier once Yang leaves the party. That useless wuss takes damage like a wet paper hankie.
You did it in the original version? Because if youre talking about the "kids" GBA version no wonder its easy... How bad of Square to make such easy remakes of games and now people go around thinking they master every FF and have no idea of the real difficulty of the originals.. oh well
Anyway if you did make it in the original version my hats off to you... Levels in this game are as or more important than equipment so I dont see how it can be done
Btw in my own experience the game gets easy again once you get Bahamut.. I was having lots of trouble fighting monsters in his cave and moon core, but once I managed heh... Rydia obliterates anything! And also for those that have no idea of the speed of bosses, you know Bahamut does a 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. MEGA FLARE count right? I managed to put 2 reflects up before he did that...Guy got like 3 seconds in a row.. I was shocked
how do u turn the speed down?

"seriously, my mom tells me "que tu hase en eso el dia entero?" and im like "mami yo toy hablando con people" xD. spanglish, ftw." ~ liz
The only time I've struggled in this game was in my second playthrough when I ran from most random encounters. I was about level 16-20 and nearly every battle in the final dungeon became a life or death struggle, I even died from the monster-in-a-box fight with the Dark Sage's and Serene Guardian's, which is a feat in itself. I've never found Zeromus hard in the GBA version, and only struggled slightly against him in the Playstation version.
Go to the in-game menu and select config, then scroll down to the battle speed option. The higher the number the lower the speed will be.

Yeah, this is one of the hardest FFs. It wasn't unusual for it to take 3 or more attempts for me to defeat bosses, but then again, I was rushing through and didn't really want to put any energy into levelling up at all, so maybe that's why.
This game is really hard on the PSX version. It's certainly beatable, though.
The SNES version is simple, and the GBA version is pretty easy. However I haven't beaten any of them yet, but from what I've played, the PSX hardtype is the most challenging.
