Gunning for the Mascot
Do you have to defeat Beclem's High Score to get the Mascot dresssphere? Because the high score from your last game carries over to the New Game +, which makes it really hard to defeat it during the New Game +, unless you specifically aim for low scores.

You do need the episode complete for Besaid, and to get that I think you need to beat him in your current game. The % is irrelevant for Mascot as its determined by the EpComs.
And yeah, if you plan to get Mascot in any New Game +'s aim low so you don't make the task bloody hard next time

Indeed, it seems, looking at gamefaqs, that I'm wrong. You don't need to beat him, just meet him.
