i think that weird swords keep final fantasy alive and since seven we have had them

Buster sword- Cloud
Masamune- Sephiroth
Gunblade- Seifer and Squall
Tidus swords esp Brotherhood- Tidus

i think ff9 failed due to it not having a weird sword

actualy the masume blade was based on a real sword

Main character in Final Fantasy:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10

Had a sword. (Unless you were rubbish and chose a class/job which couldn't use swords. In which case you are a pansy and probably called Yuna.)

IIj could use any weapon.
IIIj could use any class.
V could use any class.
VI explained below.
XI could use any class.
XII could use any weapon.

IV, VII, VIII, IX, X use swords.

LOL no. Zidane's weapons are more swords than Squall's could ever be, and you know it.

So that leaves [VI]...

Arguably, if we consider Locke/Terra the main character, neither one of them has to use swords, either. Locke focuses on knives and dagger-type weapons (dual Valiants, please). Terra can also use other weapons: in the plot, she's more of a weapon because of her magic, not her physical abilities (Morph).

If you don't consider FFVI has having a single main character, then it automatically fails succeeds.

Atma Weapon is also a Lightsaber, not a Sword.
