I'm slightly overqualified for most of my jobs, I'm also pretty quick and as easily bored as I am amused, so sometimes, when my slacker coworkers are too lazy to finish a job or even arrive at work on time, I'll pick up their smurfing slack.

But at my most recent job, I just found out that I am bound and obligated to perform [i]only[/s] what is in my job description. This is a problem that comes of working at big corporations with large employee counts. They're so afraid that I'll screw up in somebody else's name - (I didn't screw up, mind you. It's just a fear that should be irrational except that, well, you gotta ask yourself why I was doing the job in the first place, I guess. Geez...) - They're so afraid that I'll screw up in somebody else's name that it's better to pay out the cost of angry customers and damaged/ugly property, since it isn't my job to help people with particular problems or fix the environment around me.

Pretty freaking stupid,. and I don't think I can handle it. I'm getting promoted to management or else I'm quitting.
