A thread about not god.
Over the past couple of months the Eyes on staff has been consistently questioned by a certain individual about the status of his usergroup and inquiry made into perhaps a promotion being allowed, all based on this individuals past work with the community. The person I speak of is the good (?) Dr Unne, of course and recently these requests for adminiship have landed on my doorstop so to speak. Rather than ignore it like I usually do with most asinine requests requiring me to fire neurons, I indulged this Unne fellow and listened to his story. From what I have gathered between these private (not so much) sessions with the doctor, I can only describe as... well, let us just say I have a newfound respect for whatever retirement home houses him and his deranged rantings.
We used to have an unofficial policy among the staff, old and new, that Brian "Carpie" Carper was the only member of the Eyes on community that could really come and go from staff as he so wished, but the legitimacy of that, albeit ambiguous policy was questioned some while ago and for the most part we (not me, but they) have lived with the decision to scrap it. It also came at a good time because this former administrator looked to have sung his last song and hung up his lab coat in exchange for periodically going to Canada and scaring some Russian lady into giving him shelter from the polar bears. But it seems we were all terribly mistaken because now this Carpie is back and he smells the sweet scent of opportunity and it looks like he wants the banstick back.
Like I mentioned earlier, the decision was laid before the Eyes on staff in a thread, not so cleverly titled, "A thread about Unne". Former policy conveniently missing, two-hundred and fifty posts into it and nothing was really decided on, so we decided to not decide anything and hope the old man would move on. Not so, because today I receive another set of private messages inquiring into the status of his request, and once again I was forced to dance around the subject. But enough is enough I say and I believe it should be decided once and for all, by YOU, the mediocre guys and gals of the Eyes on community. The fate of one man's free time hangs in the balance. Do you set the good doctor free by stopping his request for adminship? Or do you damn him to an eternity of endless name change requests and template modifications?
