Which of course means that there won't really be any point in getting a GeForce8 if you use Windows and don't have a special need for OpenGL, since they use a legacy DirectX9.0c emulation chip.
You could always buy a Vista Upgrade package for less, upgrade your current installation and then not input your product key. Then all you have to do is reinstall once more and it will let you format your drive with a clean install of Windows. You won't have to worry about buying full versions this way.
You could always get an OEM copy with some hardware from an online retailer which acts as a full install and costs less than half the cost of retail and is fully legal.
