This thread is to list your characters "jobs" that you've allocated them, and the weapons you've given them. I thought it would be interesting to see and share this...

Here's mine:

Vaan
Job: Warrior/White Mage
Weapon: Sword & Shield
I have either him or Ashe in my party at all times acting as the healer.

Penelo
Job: Black Mage/White Mage
Weapon: Staff
I use either her or Balthier, with monsters weakened to magic or bosses I make her use black magic but otherwise she's a backup healer and DD.

Fran
Job: Samurai/Warrior
Weapon: Katana
She or Basche is always the party leader, I never consume her MP as I reserve her for any emergency quickenings. She acts as the centre of the party and the most powerful DD.

Balthier
Job: Ranger/Black Mage/White Mage
Weapon: Gun
Same as Penelo, but he's ranged and more concerned with enfeebling.

Basche
Job: Warrior
Weapon: Axe/Katana
He or Fran is my leader (I prefer Fran though). He's pretty much the same as her.

Ashe
Job: White Mage/Summoner or White Mage/Warrior
Weapon: Bow and Arrow/Sword and shield
Atm she's the only one with a summon, so I use her for this purpose. When doing so she supports the summon with healing magic and attacks the monster with her arrows.
Otherwise she has the same role as Vaan.

Vaan is also a healer.

Ashe is also a part time healer if Vaan is out of MP

Job: Black Mage
Weapon:Staff of the Magi
Armour: Mystic
Accessory: Cat ear
Well she is an all time black mage and a summonner with all my espers

Armour: Heavy
Accessory: Battle Hearness
He's a full time attacker.Rarely uses spells.I have him use items more.

Balthier

I rarely use him.I only trained him for fun

She is my most useful character and is pretty damn fast

Primarily mage, however, I keep both her and Vaan close to their street roots as thieves.

Weapon: Primarily Spears/Lances, also Katana/Bow
Armor: Heavy/Mystic
Heaviest hitter overall (physical+magic)

Balthier
Job: Ranger/Chemist
Weapon: Gun/Bombs/Poles
Armor: Light
Primarily ranged support, he throws out the hi-potions, motes, etc. till we can recharge our MP.

Basche
Job: Knight/Warrior
Weapon: Axe/shield, Great Swords
Armor: Heavy
Heaviest Physical hitter

Ashe
Job: Paladin (Knight/White mage/Buffs)
Weapon: Sword/Shield, occasionally spear/lance
Armor: Heavy, Heavy/Mystic
Mid-range fighter, goes toe to toe then hangs back casting protect/cure etc.

Vaan- I can't remember what he has equipped atm. It might be a one handed sword. He's typically a fast multihitter (katana types) like balthier

Balthier- Fast Multihitter (cat ear hood and masamune, often berserked and hasted and bravery'd)

fran- "Uses the weapons that no one else bothers with", hand bombs, maces etc.

Basch- Golden Axe dude (has used hammers in the past, if their attack was higher than the current axe available) Tank through and through

Ashe- Save the Queen, paladin, typically has similar armor etc as basch.

Penelo- magic girl with a big stick. Her current big stick is a two handed sword which cracks me up when I watch her swing it around xD Sometimes I berserk+haste her to regain her MP because I've used all of it.

They're all pretty interchangable, barring what their weapons are. I've given basch the heavy irratic damage dealing hammers and axes, ashe has gotten the one handed swords, vaan and balthier have taken the light swords/spears/poles (spears for vaan and poles for balthier) and Penelo had a bow for a long time, and fran gets the novelty weapons xD

Occasionally I equip Vaan with a Greatsword to see him climb on it after boss fights

I suck at this thing called strategy.

Minimal controller usage is good. I need the hands for more useful things, like doing honework.
