    Default new from nintendo

Has anyone here heard of Spectrobes, the new Nintendo DS game that's released around march?
From what I've read and seen so far it looks like an amazing game It looks a little like Pokemon but with a more sci-fi edge to it.

here are some youtube vids of the game

It's actually from Buena Vista Games, not Nintendo. It's just coming to the DS.

They don't seem so keen on showing much other than pre-rendered scenes in the trailers I watched. It looks like just another Pokemon ripoff trying to jump on a trend way too late in the game.

I've seen some gameplay bits and read some impressions. I can't see those vids since I'm at work, but I've been monitoring this game for a little while.

It seems interesting, especially with the fossil digging which would be unique... if Pokemon Diamond/Pearl didn't have it as well (In Pokemon, there's an underground cave sort of thing where you can dig for fossils).

They mention cards being used on that Kotaku link to unlock more monsters, but I don't think that sort of thing would be so hot outside of Japan. Which means if they don't bring it out for the US audience, the game could be gimped.

In all, it's fortunate that they are coming out over a month before Pokemon. It looks interesting enough for me to try, and likely the younger Pokemon fans would pick it up readily.
