    Default Super Paper Mario

Yeah, this is probably the next game I get for my Wii. It's alot like the other Paper Mario games, but the main perspective is like a 2D Side-Scroller. When you're in towns and the like, it's obviously much like a Paper Mario game, but 2D. But it seems as though when you're going to your next destination, your RPG instincts will be dumped temporarily, to be replaced with your Side-Scroller instincts.

One of the main things of the game, besides mostly being 2D, is the ability to switch perspectives. Mario has the ability to just... turn. It switches the perspective to from the side, to behind Mario, thus allowing him to go into previously impossible dimensions.

As you go through the game, you obtain new fairy like things, which give you special abilities. One acts similarly to Goombella, in which you point the Wii Remote at certain things to see what they are. Sometimes, this reveals secrets. Another allowing you to place bombs! And you know, things like that.

There are multiple playable characters in the game, currently the only confirmed ones being Princess Peach and Bowser. Sadly, neither of them can flip the perspective, so because this still is an RPG, you're probably just going to use Mario for the sake of finding stuff.

Here are some pictures to demonstrate the perspective switch:

Yeah, the pictures are actually kinda big, so I only linked to them. The first one, on top, shows the 2D perspective. The one on the bottom shows the same area in the 3D perspective.

    Here's IGN's video section: http://media.wii.ign.com/media/853/853822/vids_1.html

Be warned, though, because the most recent videos are of the final game, and spoil how to get through certain parts of the game.

Right now, the release date for the U.S. is April 9th, 2007. Surprisingly, in Japan, the release date is April 19th, 2007.

While this isn't the next Wii game I'm getting (this is, keep an eye out), it's certainly the next Nintendo blockbuster. 1UP/Gamevideos.com have some unspoiler videos of the game as well, if you don't want to be spoiled. I'm sure there are NDAs and embargoes that prevent certain parts of the game from being shown (until the release date), so it shouldn't be much to worry about anyway.
