Dose anyone here share my absolute hatred for Novell? It has blocked this site and is blocking just about every proxy server I'm using to get here! I HATE SCHOOL COMPUTERS!!!

Well, a school computer is for... you know... school related material. They have a right to it.

We bypassed the intertube filter in high school and set the wallpapers on the library computers to goatse. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Like EVERYTHING is banned in my school. We used to use "www1.." to get on youtube. but that got banned, we used "www.wwwproxy.." or something like that to get on other sites and now thats banned, EoFF is banned, like everything is banned xD
We can't even set a wallpaper.

Why the hell did I go to a TECHNOLOGY school
We have all IT Technicians and crap.

I assume that you are attempting to access school-related material, or at the least, a site that could be construed as school-related/allowed sites. Otherwise, get over it, use your home computer, and try not to wait until the last day to do assignments.

school is for...oddly enough, school work...i don't find my need of porn ever got so bad that i had to use school computers for it....or anything else non-school related, if for some reason you use the internet for anything other than porn.

The only proxy curently working is www.proxied.ws at least it allows logins. But even some Shool related sites are *RIP!* unacessable.

Novell does filtering? Are you sure it's not through some other service?

My school uses Bess to filter and it's ridiculous how much it restricts. I'm in a computer class three periods a day. I have free time. Sometimes I want to do something else than go to the few sites that are yet to be blocked or play the crappy built-in Windows games. So to all of you saying they're justified in blocking almost everything ever, no. I'd much rather have no filter at all and teachers who actually know a thing or two about the technology taking care of any improper uses than have to fall back on such obviously flawed technology.

At least I won't have to worry about it here in a few months.

I don't mind Novell. They did pioneer GL composited desktop environments for Unix systems.

You could always run your URLs through Google translate. I'm pretty sure your school wouldn't block that.

But not for the same reason as you...i just hate it because its "virus paranoid" it says everything has virus' but ive checked all my files through loads of other virus scanners only to find them completely clean...it makes no sense...its sooooooo totally flawed.

Our school has the computers there locked down to where there are no games! Or the last time I used one.

Bess was a joke. They only used it for one year here, They wanted to replace it sooner but they couldn't. My schools current filter is decent, They are loose on blocking, but everyonce in a while the teachers will decide to be stupid and have the filter block sites like ctrl alt del.
It also has a good handle on alternate ways to get past things....they have both I.E. and fireon there system, plus most of the alternate ones...

The only issue I have with whatever filter my school uses is that you can't do an image search of any sort, which can get annoying. Other than that I don't care.

Yeah luckliy we can get on EoFF though. Otherwise i'd go insane with all the comp classes I take. And we have St. Bernard cause yeah they gave up on bess. Stupid dog themed blocking! A kid at our school even made his own proxy but too many people found out about it and that got blocked. The have google images blocked >.< A lot of reports they make us do we need pics and that's the easiest ways to get them. Stupid dogs.
