I loved the Gambit system too. Usualy I'm bored by combat. It's what you do to get enough points to see the next part of the story. But I loved experimenting with new Gambits and combinations. Plus I could occasionaly just sit back and watch Balthier pose.
Lots of locations, all as pretty as Myst. I found myself running back through locations to look at the scenery. (SPOILER)The reflecting mist in the Feywood was facinating. A simple but very dramatic effect.
I liked Fran and Balthier's story. I wish there was more story from Vaan and any story at all from Penelo.

So far I'm loving it. I really do like the characters, and so far the story -- as well as the expansive areas to explore (just shy of an MMO's world). So far I'm around 30 hours into it, at the beach (whatever it's called).

Gambits, I don't see why people complain about them a lot. It's like, some people think you have to use them all the time..or you have to rely on them a lot. Not really =P

Considering Cuchulainn predates Goobbue by half a decade (He appears in FFTactics as well as Adrammalech, Ultima, Belias, Zalera, Hashmal, and Zodiark as the Lucavi) I think we can say it's the other way around...Cuchulainn is nothing but a cheap imitation of the almighty Goobbue.

I was kind'a disappointed - because the fighting system changed.
qickly I turned to play shadow hearts II - just to taste the joy of the old school battles.

this is Final Fantasy we're talking about.

I amaized by this huge step that the game develops.
man until now I'm proud of FF series.
I like the real time battles and the game over all.
