i'll stick to "pop" albums (in alpha order by band)

pink floyd - wish you were here
    radiohead - kid a
rolling stones - let it bleed
stereolab - transient random-noise bursts with announcements

    I love you

    For me...

    Daft Punk- Discovery
    Gorillaz- Demon Days
    The Pillows- Happy Bivouac
    Billy Joel- Glass House
    Yoko Kanno- Songs to Fly

I decided to limit myself, so I didn't use soundtracks, greatest hits, or compilation albums.

Not a single person I've ever talked to, but of course everyone will have a different take on things as subjective as music. Although it's a pretty strong statement that every Mars Volta fan I know (myself included) refuses to ever listen to Amputechture again, and is pretty much done giving any of their new stuff the time of day unless they really wow us in the future (I doubt it with John Theodore gone now though).

I always feel like an idiot trying to compile a list of my favorite albums, because there are so many things I listen to that I know aren't "best ever" quality but are still really entertaining. But here goes.

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles - The White Album
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
    Train - My Private Nation
    The Verve Pipe - Villains

    Oh, this will be difficult.

    1. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ By the Way
    2. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ One Hot Minute
    3. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ Blood Sugar Sex Magik
    4. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ Stadium Arcadium
    5. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ Californication
    6. Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ Mother's Milk

I couldn't cut it down to five.

I think that's a little harsh. They went in a different direction for Amp, just like they did with Frances, and while a lot of fans think it pales in comparison to their first two, I still think it is an excellent album. Vicarious, Tetra, and DotB is worth the price of the album alone, in my opinion.

And although Jon leaving does suck, it's not as if they'll never be good again. Considering Omar and Cedric write all the music, the drummer's job is just to play. I doubt a different one will totally alter their sound.

Radiohead - OK Computer (i'm limiting myself to one RH album on this list, or else it'd have to be a top 10 list. 6 RH albums, 4 others. 8-))

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (this double album has been one of my faves for about 12 years. it's stood the test of time, i've never gotten sick of it. win.)

Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell (contains almost all of Meat's best songs, and there's not a single weak spot on the album.)

    Beck - Odelay (I miss the 90s.)

Sublime - Sublime (perfect relaxation music - most of it, anyway. good memories.)

Those Who Didn't Quite Make It:
    Every album by The Beatles
    Every other album by Radiohead
    Beck - Midnite Vultures
    Brand New - Deja Entendu
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell II: Back Into Hell
    N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton
    The Offspring - Americana
The Postal Service - Give Up
Sublime - 40 Oz. To Freedom
