Plus if the only reason you wanna find Purifyng Salts is indeed for preventing encounters, you might wanna try going down to the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth and killing Ghosts... well, that's my personal favourite anyway. Anything with "Peaceful" in the name, with the exception of Wakka, whose item will be called "Off Season".
