Public Enemy.
Public Enemy.
Owen made this sig. R.I.P.
The only rapper I can tolerate (I hate rap.) is probably Lupe Fiasco. Anyone else...no.
<3 Dangerdoom. Good track choices, too.
Also, nerdcore is totally rockin. I'm a huge pusher of the genre because it's so awesome and wonderful. Check out MC Frontalot (who has a ton of songs available on his site) and mc chris (he has a full album on his site) for some goodness.
I also really like Lady Sovereign. She is adorable. There, I said it.
you should check out magnetic north. they're just starting out and got some good songs already like drift away.
[QUOTE=Hsu;2126246]I've always thought Dizzee Rascal was the far superior Grime artist. I hope he breaks into the US soon. Someone with his frantic style and crazy production is just the kind of thing mainstream US rap needs nowadays.
Yes! Chuck D is one of the most underrated MCs. When DMC (of Run DMC) says you're the best rapper he's ever heard you know you're the . Also, if you completely ignore his media whoring the last couple years, Flavor Flav was the best hype man ever.
- Sage Francis (Genius, lyrical and lingual master, Personal Journals and A Healthy Distrust are amazing as well)
- Rakim (18th Letter and any older material)
- Cage (Horrorcore/acid rap genius, check out Hellz Winter, Waterworld and Movies for the Blind)
- Big Punisher (RIP)
- Canibus (Diverse as hell, he's mastered multiple styles, I suggest Rip the Jacker, Micclub and 2000 BC)
- Eminem (his older material, look for his Infinite and Slim Shady LP)
- AZ (AWOL is his best album hands down)
- Nas
- Jay-Z
- Freeway
- Dead Prez (Let's Get Free is an amazing album)
Just a few I listen to, I listen to both mainstream and underground and love both.
MF Doom sucks major ass by the way.

Yeah AWOL is a awesome CD. Have you heard The Format? It's not as good as AWOL but has a few good tracks.

I love MF Doom. I also love a lot of the artists you recommended so I'm just wondering what is it about Doom that makes you dislike him. I'm not trying to start a argument or anything, I'm just usually curious to people's reasoning behind loathing things I adore.
I just think he sounds like an idiot. He lacks lyrical content, can't flow for , isn't all that creative and looks like a faggot with that stupid mask on. I tried to give him a chance multiple times but it didn't work out. He's the worst rapper in existence in my opinion, well one of the worst. Only thing he has going for him is originality, it doesn't make up for every other aspect in rap though.

Anything my M.I.A. is brilliant. Lady Sovereign is quite nice as well.
M.I.A. is great.
MF Doom is great.
You probably also want to check out Handsome Boy Modeling School, the stuff they put together is genius, and probably an especially good beginning venture into hip-hop and rap. I recommend their 2004 record "White People."
Sugar Hill Gang anyone?
