I'm thinking more in lines of Enemy Territory, America's Army and Anarchy Online. Anything anybody?

    Thanks in advance.
Americas Army is pretty awesome. About 40-50, each different in design and they all have a mission. If you join, tell me your username.
I've played it before actually, but that was years ago. Kind of got annoyed about the spawning times though.

I suggest maybe checking out www.mmorpg.com and see some reviews of pretty much every online role playing game available (that is known). Some are popular ones you have to pay for like FFXI, WoW, EQ2, etc. But they also have reviews for a lot of free ones, and even advertisements.
Wow, that's actually the first MMORPG site that seems to have reasonable ratings. Kinda weird that WoW is so far behind though.

All games are anyway. There are some good free online games though. You just need to find them.

Quite a number of them weren’t always free, like Anarchy Online and Enemy Territory, the later being built upon a commercial game. And the others are more or less futile attempts of certain states to enlist more cannon fodder (America's Army). On a side note, I never got how a game where you are almost certain to get shot every second round is a good advertisement for joining the army...
Thats only if your unlucky. One of my friends went 11 and 1.
It looks like the ground had a sex change.

    Also, google the following:

Cave Story (if you like this, google Underside)
Guardian of Paradise (like Zelda, but miles better)
    Within a Deep Forest
    Knytt
The Independent Gaming Source (independent game downloads and news)
    Warning Forever
    The Spirit Engine
    Engage to Jabberwock
    La-Mulana
    mono
    Duotris
    Freeciv

If you actually want an adventure/strategy game with a good storyline, I'd highly suggest the Myst series (though there's not much story in the first one, it really picks up in Riven and Revelations).

And about www.mmorpg.com, yeah it's been around forever. I have no idea why Guild Wars is up there, but I understand Everquest II. Everquest II has really picked itself up in the last couple expansions, as has FFXI. Though World of Warcraft still has the highest player base, I think, of roughly 8M or so, which is absolutely huge.

It became classed as MMO since Factions became available.

It was an MMO when I bought the first one too actually.
