Default Weapon Skills and NM Drop Rates

Does using a Weapon Skill on an NM mess with the drop rate of certain treasure? I've been hunting NMs for THF equipment and got help from an LS member one time. When I found the NM, I used a WS on it and he was like, "Oooo, you WS'd..." He didn't know of any proof that using a WS on an NM lowered drop rates but he said that it was rumored that it was true. I've browsed some sites about it but can't find anything that affects drop rates other than Treasure Hunter traits.

I'm 0/5 Leaping Lizzy and 0/5 Jaggedy-Eared Jack. I did get the Katana drop from Carnero on the first try, though. I've used WSs on all of these. Personally, I think it's bull. What do you guys think?

That sounds stupid. I've only heard rumours of there being a difference if you one-shot them or not.

It's just more superstition. I'm fairly certain Carnero is 100% anyway.

I pretty much figured but I couldn't find anything saying otherwise.

Killing a bunch of mobs at once using an area attack does lower drop rates, I've read. So an AOE weapon skill would do that.

That I can agree with though I'm not sure exactly how it works out. Does using AoE on only a single mob lower the drop? I've seen AoE WS and AoE nuking making for pitiful drop-rates several times over and know several people with similar results. I'd say there is support for this one. It's a little different than people who try to say THF kill raises drop rates because, "I killed Byakko with THF kill and it dropped Haidate!!! It's proven!!!" Yeah... I've killed Byakko with Spirits Within on BRD and he dropped the pants too.... what's the prove to you?

People generate all kinds of theories as to why the NM won't drop! Because sometimes people get so darn unlucky

I'm pretty sure the drop rates for Jack and Lizzy are low enough that 0/5 is actually more probable than 1/5, even with THF equipment.

I'm pretty sure I agree with you. I was just wondering if I was making it less likely by attacking with WSs.

Think about this logically, why would they do such a thing? Many NMs are super tough, like King Behemoth or say Aquarius, if using a WS to kill them nerfed the drop then it would be extremely hard to kill them, especially in a close call, as well as pissing players off which is the last thing SE wants to do intentionally. Plus, why? Think about it, why? It takes strategy out of killing certain NMs too.

I wouldn't put it pass SE to want to piss players off.
