its just a tech demo but i had the same thread asking if they are thinking about it. alot of people are saying no but i recon it must be on squares mind. they cant make a load of spin offs for ffVII and not think about actully remastering it. its the greatest game of all time. so the answer is maybee, mabee not.
Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Okay, here's the lowdown.
Square-Enix showed us a tech demo, just like they did with FF6 for the N64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE2vn...related&search=, and just like they did with FF8 for the PS2, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VREs1rAq9bU. It does not mean they are remaking the game. Surely, the fact that those two games were never made or released would help confirm that.
If Square-Enix have not officially announced an FF7 remake, then they are not remaking the game.
Even if they happen to have it in development, they have not announced it, so until further notice assume that they are not remaking the game.
People have told me that Square-Enix promised to remake the game if the PS3 turned out not to be backwards compatible, but nobody's ever been able to tell me where they found this, so as far as can be seen, they are not remaking the game.
People might also believe the remakes of FF1 through FF6 to be adequate proof, but that was because they were far more obscure and more recognition was wanted for them. FF7 is stupidly well known, so as they have no real incentive they are not remaking the game.
Full stop. End of story.
P.S. From now on, this is going to be my stock response every time someone suggests there's gonna be this remake, for as long as Square-Enix haven't announced any such thing.
That FF6 demo is not for the N64.
everything is wrapped in gray
i'm focusing on your image
can you hear me in the void?
search the boards, the discussion on this 2 year old tech demo has been done to death, there's no need for a new thread about it every 2-3 weeks... now to humor you with an answer, S-E has said on multiple occasions that they have NO intention of remaking FF VII as long as the original is still available to the public, and since they keep re-pressing new coppies i believe that may be a long time to never... the tech demo in question was just something they threw together while making AC in order to show what they could do with the PS3's engine, nothing more, any other info to the contrary is false and purely fanboy/girl speculation...
Are people really this stupid? TECH DEMO NOT A REMAKE!!
If you really had any idea wtf was going on in the gaming world, you'd have heard about this when the tech demo came out.
EGM announced that it would be a game, but they ARE AS STUPID AS YOU ARE.
You're right, it was a tech demo for the NU64 (Nintendo Ultra 64), the name of the N64 at that time.
EDIT : I didn't say a thing....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_F...active_CG_Game
"Final Fantasy VI: The Interactive CG Game (also known as the Final Fantasy SGI demo, or Final Fantasy x (not related to the actual 10th game in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy X)) was a short demonstration produced by video game developer Square Co., Ltd. using characters and settings from the console role-playing game Final Fantasy VI. Produced using new Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) Onyx workstations acquired by Square, the demo was Square's first foray into 3D graphics, and many assumed that it was a precursor to a new Final Fantasy title for the Nintendo 64 video game console, which also utilized SGI hardware. Square, however, had not yet committed to Nintendo's console at the time of the demo's production, and much of the technology demonstrated in the demo was later put to use in the rendering of full motion video sequences for Final Fantasy VII and subsequent games for the PlayStation."
