If FF starting putting kiss or DMX songs in there, then you know its time to call it quits.

Exactly, if they do that--they're basically say they've raised the white flag. I can't really image controlling somewhat like Auron mid-way in battle and hearing: "SHUT THE HELL UP BECAUSE I'M PACKING NINES IN THE TRUCK, BOUT TO SHOOT THIS GUY UP!!!". Maybe in my spare time, but not entirely when i want to hear 'Fitting' music for FF music sounds.
The day i see live sex on an FF, will be the day when Jesus goes clubbing with me in Tenerife!
EOFF needs a resurgence to it's former glory.
I have really never thought about this, my eyes didn't pop up as if with or without blood really matters because they are just pixels... so it's pretty much meaningless to be concerned about things like blood, etc. Well maybe not just all pixels, but things like blood are pretty much meaningless.
Yeah, I'm pretty more interested in story and its plot holes :P
So the answer is no :P
The games have never had any gratuitous level of violence or swearing, but that doesn't make them "kiddy" by any means either. Almost all of the games have had some pretty dark overtones to them.
I think it's a mix of "it's hard to make some decent, realistic looking blood on these sophisticated 3D engines" and "special effects are cool". Like in FFX, when Sin attacks on the beach, the soldiers simply dematerialize and get blown away. To me, that was more effective than BOOM BOOM BOOM BODIES BLOWN APART SAND SOAKED IN BLOOD!!!!!11! It seemed like they were aiming to hit your emotions, yknow, not to gross you out and make you cringe.
Although I have to admit, blood is powerful. You just can't overuse it, otherwise it becomes meaningless.

I wouldn't say "kiddy", but it sure seems to focus a lot on trying to be "cool".
It started out with Cloud, a cold dude with a huge sword and a punk-haircut, and then there was Squall, the "bad-ass".
This temporarily stopped in FFIX, where characters felt more likeable and overall nicer.
Then we got Tidus, and he also felt kind of exagerrated; he was more the kind of character that 10-year-old boys find "cool".
Cecil and Kain in FF4 were a bit like this as well, but there just was something about them that even I liked.
They felt more "alive", somehow, like characters that were created with a passion.
Nowadays FF characters feel so commercial; it'll be long before we see characters like Rydia, Terra, Locke and Garnet again.
Thank god Typhoon isn't a game designer.
I dont geddit. Blood=Higher target audience?
Nahh.

Quoted for truth.
Blood and swearing doesn't make a game more mature, just makes it appeal more to juveniles who haven't grown up yet and still think blood pouring and limbs flying is what makes something mature. FF is already more mature than most games, especially when they have plots dealing with character relationships, political intrigue and the like.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of times where I like violence in a game (God of War anyone?). But a lack of violence doesn't make a game kiddy.
that was taken out of context also you missed my point. my point in recent FF games death is everywhere and yet when blood should be shown they look the other way.
i dont think it would create a higher audience. i just think when someone is shot outside of battle (battles dont count in my book because they dont have the monsters changeing with each attack) they should blead because its realistic.
everyone keeps forgetting to read my other posts and need to figure out that i dont mean kiddy to a litteral extent. i dont think a 7 year old should play any FF really because they wont get the story when i was little and played i didnt undertsand still had fun though but didnt fully understand it until i was older.
also blood splattering and limbs flying to get the game rateing of mature. i dont really care for that much blood. i HATE resident evil. most extremely violent games i tend to hate because they work by haveing a stupid story but so much blood people think its cool.
i play games for there story create an FF where there shouldnt be any blood and i wont mind. but make me watch lenne and shuyin get shot and not a drop of blood im sorry but now i belive they pulled a matrix and dodged bullets and then decided to take a nap. dont go to show someone getting stabbed and turn the camera away.
basically i want them to show what they put in the games. i do think they should leave out sexual content its a video game not porn. keep the game set on what its about wars saveing the planet stuff like that. yeah theres love story too but come on everything violence laungage should also only go so far.
Edit: im just hopeing ff doesnt keep takeing it donw a notch everytime until we have a ff game that the target audience is 5-12. hopefully they will keep up the complex story lines.
