"This Esper reguarlay uses her Devour Soul ability.
The more she uses it, the more damage her Esper Technick will inflict.
The damage that Shemhazai's Soul Purge attack inflicts is actually 1/3 of the the total damage dealt by Devour Soul.
Furthermore, the Esper Technick is also affected by the total damage you have dealt by using Knots of Rust.
Though unlikely to reach the upper extremes, it can inflict up to 60'000 HP of damage.
However, the cumulative "chain" total that increses it's effectiveness can be broken in two ways.
The first, obviously, is when Shemhazai uses Soul Purge, and the second is when you use Dark Matter - the damage dealt by this item is also 1/3 of the total sum dealt by Knots of Rust and Devour Soul."

Unfortunately I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what that's supposed to mean... it's not been very clearly explained in the guide!
