Default Changing characters and Mysidian sidequest!

Yay me! I was playing the GBA version of FF4, and to my joy I actually beat Rubicant!
Anyway, just before you go to the moon to defeat Zemus, my game said "You can now change characters at the Mysidia Tower (or Prayer Place or whatever)" and so when I arrived there, a little sidequest was waiting for me!
Tell me, could you change characters in the NES version, and can you do the Mysidia sidequest, or is it a unique thing to the GBA version?

It's GBA only. The sidequest mostly entails getting upgraded equipment for the new party members so that they have stuff capable of taking on the final dungeon.

You get an extra dungeon to go to with those who have left your party throughout the game and get them some extra equipment, and you're able to swap them out and use a different party than the standard Cecil - Kain - Edge - Rosa - Rydia team for the Lunar Subterrane.

Standard party's the most balanced though.

It's GBA exclusive content. And it was released for SNES, not NES

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Oh yeah. I only got one new weapon for Rosa though. I didn't know how to get the others. Can anyone remind me what the weapons are?

For which characters, specifically? Or were you referring to simply bows?

Alright, are the weapons their final weapons or not, and lets use Kain as an example--is he final weapon in that dungeon?

Kain's final weapon is Abel's Lance, acquired after beating Lunar Bahamut in the Lunar Ruins.

Lunar Bahamut in the Lunar Ruins. You get that and the Dragoon's Ring after beating him.

    A) FFIV = SNES
    B) You couldn't switch your characters in the SNES version.
    C) This side quest didn't exist.
