The legal process of actually procuring the rights to use characters from different shows would be an absolute nightmare for Square-Enix, so one should not expect involvement of any characters not already owned by Disney or Square-Enix.

That being said, I think it would be stiffling to add more crossovers into the Kingdom Hearts universe. There's more than enough material between Disney and Square-Enix to make use of, so I don't see a reason to throw more stuff in.

If Disney is going to play a big role again, I'm hoping that there won't be any reappearing worlds from Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. The worlds that returned in Kingdom Hearts 2 already stretched the plots thin (or completely did away with them in some cases). I think SE would be beating a dead horse (excuse the cliche) if Agrabah or Halloween Town were to make a third appearance. The only world that is worth bringing back is Disney Castle, and that's 'cause there isn't a pre-established plot going along with it.

I agree with you, but just to be completely fair:

    Mulan has a Mulan 2
Beauty and the Beast has its spinoff.
Hercules has a boatload of mythology to go along with him (assuming they can depict endless rape by Zeus as child-appropriate)
    Tarzan has a sequel
Aladdin and the King of Thieves
Halloween Town is used up, but there are a series of other movies of the same animation type
    Atlantica with two sequels
100 Acre Wood (LOL like you could use up the stories in this series)
Port Royal and its two sequels (as though I have to link this)
Pride Rock has multiple spinoffs and sequels
Tron would most likely be unaccessed in KHIII or its spinoffs
    Alice in Wonderland was dropped

Also, Disney != Japanese anime such as Naruto or Samurai X. To even obtain those rights of use would be a massive investment, and also smacks of personal ignorance that you might even fathom it. Also, Kenshin would totally own Sora any day, and he would never be a Heartless or Nobody, since he's got his own thing going on (Battosai and Saito).

I know! In the next game they should have it so that you get to make your own reality TV show called "Atlantica Idol"! :O

    *is being sarcastic*

As for continuity, the idea of a Keyblade War would be rather interesting. The secret ending to KHII:FM+ that if it was referring to a future game that Mickey would be most likely present, though it almost seemed to me that it was a younger version of him. Something along of the lines of pre-KH timeline would be interesting. Maybe eventually something about when the first Keyblade appeared would be cool too.

Besides that maybe some more FF cameos would be nice, better yet they could always have one the worlds be one of the actual FF worlds, though that might be strenuous on said world's original plot. As for Disney worlds, Sword in the Stone would be neat, or Robin Hood.

And I would argue that almost everyone one of those examples falls under my stretching the plot thin complaint. I'll concede on the 100 Acre Woods; they'll never run out of that.

I never said Disney was above stretching plots to make crappy sequels. As we've seen from the Final Fantasy VII franchise, neither is Square-Enix. Definitely not looking good.

I would assert that King of Thieves had a plot, so does Pirates, and even Simba's Pride, which was quite the income, even for a direct-to-video. But yes, I do recognize that Disney isn't exactly the biggest fan of sequels for the entertainment value. Then again, SE also leaves lots of questions unanswered, while Disney is all about the little children.

I hope it is an MMO, that's some of the rumours I've been hearing. That'd be good.

More on Crisis Core, Less on Kingdom Hearts

Update by: Azar. Thursday March 8, 2007 at 01:01 PM.

To quickly get the Kingdom Hearts news (or lack thereof) out of the way first: Tetsuya Nomura has stated that Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ will be his last Playstation 2 title. The new events added to the game will also not feature English voice acting, and for those of you who were hoping for a Kingdom Hearts III announcement at this year's Square Enix party in May, prepare to be disappointed: you'll have to wait a bit longer to hear anything about KHIII.

it is very easy to deduce that the character shown in the trailer is not Roxas.
Well, I guess if they're pulling the same shat as in X with Lenne and Shuyin looking twinly to Yuna and Tidus, then yeah. But this guy looks way in the hell too much like Roxas and that damned Mickey looks a little battle-hardened to me. Not like he did when we first saw him Kingdom Hearts helping Sora and Riku close that giant set of doors. Also, that other big knight kinda "reminded" me of Axel.

I just can't wait to fight out who the hell that spawned masked character is (the lightning speedster)

Hercules. He also had a TV series (animated and live action) I'll always accept Hercules, but I think he should be a summoned character
Tarzan has a sequel. It also has a prequel (unless that's what you mean) and an entire TV series, I don't care to revisit that world though
Aladdin and the King of Thieves This one actually interests me.
Halloween Town is used up, but there are a series of other movies of the same animation type Ooooh, Corpse Bride
Atlantica with two sequels If they were gonna do something about the sequels, they should've done at least one in II. Going back to the original was just lame.
100 Acre Wood God slay me.
Port Royal God yes! I await this with a swelling in my nether regions... by the way, they could combine both sequels into one KH side story, since the first one kinda left you hanging.
Pride Rock I'd rather be torn apart by ravished lions
Tron I'd love to revisit Tron
Alice in Wonderland was dropped. There is a god.
Damned Pixar is the reason we can't see Toy Story or the Incredibles. And I don't care what you say, turning into a vehicle in the Cars world would be awesome. Or how about turning into a monster at Monsters Inc.

I think Bridge to Terabithia offers some nice concepts, though the movie itself I hold in distain.

Peter Pan's world has yet to be fully explored (we haven't even met any of the lost boys) and Cinderella III throws in a lot more adventure that would make it a more relevant addition to the game.

Personally, I'd prefer to see a world for Sleeping Beauty. I'm damned tired of waiting.

    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
