Default Playing games on a laptop...

So, I'm soon gonna buy a laptop computer, exclusively for playing games (), and so I'd like to know what to keep in mind.

Are there any significant differences between a desktop and a laptop when it comes to playing on emulators?
Or is the laptop basically a mobile version of the desktop?

    EDIT:
I'm gonna emulate NES and SNES (Nesticle and Zsnes/Snes9x, I guess).

Laptops will also be more expensive than a desktop. A higher-end gaming laptop will cost roughly $1,000 - $1,500 more than it's desktop equivalent

Laptops also tend to run "clunkier" espcially the intel chipset. I really do not recommend a laptop for games, less you know what you are doing.

He's just using it for emulators, not Oblivion.

Yeah if you only intend on emulating NES and SNES then a laptop will be fine. I had a laptop for a long while and I hated it very very very much. it was evil and intel is evil.

Laptops have tier graphic cards. Emulators need good graphic cards. Make sure you get one with DirectX9, Pixel Shader 2.0, SNES and SNES2.... Bottom line, go for a high end graphics and video laptop rather than going for humongous HD, attached printers and other "fluff"

I used to emulate SNES and NES games on a 200 MHz Pentium I (or maybe PII), so you'll be okay with whatever laptop you get.

if you buy a new laptop with a good graphics card (newer ati or nvidia) and a processor over 2.0 ghz you should have no trouble emulating PS1 games too

My recommendations will let you play PS2 games, including FFX and X2, though veeery slowly.
