There is no ending, you will keep on fighting Ultimecia over and over again until you got so pissed off and throw the disc off the windows into the great dark beyond.
I bet you got stuck exactly the game way as I did. Beaten the whole game to find out that learning +STR ability was they key to beating the game.

it's not so much what happens as it's how it's directed. IMO VIII had the best opening and ending of ang FF.

I think that the ending, much like the game, was a little too encompassing of Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly. I have not watched the ending on YouTube, and it has been many years. Wasn't the rest of the cast delegated to a mere home movie in the credits?
