Dragoon, or RedMage?

So me and my pal are talking about are fav class on FF His is The Red Mage, and mine is The Dragoon. now, I just want to no what you people think, who would win in a fight? *I say dragoon* who is the better party meber to have? *I say dragoon, again!* and whos just down right kooler? *dragooooonnnn* up up and away dragoon!

I say Red Mage, Red Mage got magic when NORMAL Dragoon can't.
When the dragoon jump, the Red Mage sets up his/her magic trap and the dragoon landed back on the ground without known what kind of a trap has been setup.

I say Red Mage, Red Mage got magic when NORMAL Dragoon can't.
When the dragoon jump, the Red Mage sets up his/her magic trap and the dragoon landed back on the ground without known what kind of a trap has been setup.

What the hell kind of FF has traps. (that player chars can cast)
Also the dragoon would see it on the way down. LANDING On the red mage before the trap anyway.

in a one-on-one fight, the Dragoon would win, armor, jump, stronger weapon, the red mage would have a pretty hard time.

I don't have a personal preference though, it's all about what kind of party you're trying to have. if you need another strong melee character, and want some diversity, i pick a dragoon, but if I need to balance a party out, I go with a Red Mage.

Or in IX, get both, and use Freya.

The redmage would win. Although this question can't be decided without a specific FF.

Final Fantasy Xi for example, sure, a Dragoon can jump, big deal, a redmage can go invisible, what's that dragoon going to do now?
