I never got burnt by touching a slim PS2.
The only issue with it is that it can't play games that require the hard drive. I only know of one game that requires the hard drive, and that's FFXI. It does have a fan, but it is much more quiet than the fan used in the old PS2. It also has a network adapter built-in, making it simpler to play a few games online.

can you hear me in the void?
It's lasted a hell of a lot longer than my regular one, and it doesn't make noises like it's about to take off or explode. I also saved twenty quid on an ethernet adaptor.

ive got the small PS2, and as far as i know you can play the same types of games on it as you can on a regular PS2, and also ive never had a problem with over heating or anything.
I heard it over heats easily.

No-one's gonna take me alive! It's time to fight for our rights! - Muse.
I have had mine for over 2 years now and I like it a LOT better than the original. It's light, makes less noise, more attractive. There is no power switch in the back!
