It's not necessarily the story. In fact, I don't know what it is. I was able to finish Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Dragon Quest VIII. Neither have riveting narratives or battle systems that are exactly new. Something about Skies of Arcadia just doesn't click with me. Must be 'coz Pirates > Ninjas
