    Default FF XII jobs

I'm replaying twelve again and I'm trying to go through it like classic ffs with jobs, the thing is I'm having a bit of some problems maintaing my party this way rather than having everyone identical like I used to, but I was wondering if I can get some tips here are my party's levels and equipment ; I'm currently at the begginning of the Phon Coast.

Penelo: Red Mage Weapon: Heavy Pole Armor:(some magic hat) (Jujitsu Gi)

Vaan: Black Mage Weapon: Glacial Staff Armor: Black Owl (Some gaic armor)

Ashe: White Mage/ Summoner Weapon: Gaia Rod Armor: Magichat and heavy armor

Balthier: Green Mage/ Technician Weapon: Betelguse Armor: Light armor Light armor

Fran: Archer/Time Mage Weapon: Recurve Crossbow Armor: Light and Light

Basch: Dark Knight Weapon: Platinum Sword Armor: Heavy Heavy

I think I succeeded in making Vaan a good Black Mage, but Ashe seems to die a lot. I think I would seem some good gambits for them. I've tried a strategy with Ashe with her healing rod to hit the party so she'll put regen on them, but I can't figure how to make her automatically do it whenever it wears off and she makes a terrible summoner. Balthier also causes a problem sometimes with steal gambit I put on him. I put it so he'll automatically steal from enemies with 100% HP, but sometimes he runs off to a monster that's far away from the rest of the party and steals from it then brinigning it over to us along with three others causing a game over screen.. I need help and I would love to hear some of you playing your games by a job system.

This technically isn't answering your question, but I'm wondering about something. I might try out this XII Job System, but would you recommended making someone a Monk?
EOFF needs a resurgence to it's former glory.

A monk you mean an unarmed fighter? I think that would be a terrible decision to make I tried one time with fran without her weapons and she did a tiny bit of damage.

Did you give her a brawler license? Anyways, if you want to give your characters jobs, then I recommend you play this. That is if you don't mind playing it in japanese

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Yes I mind playing in Japanese, I can't read it and I would have to buy the game again, wasted money.

You may be able to read the specifics of the jobs from the International version to determine what you should and should not give your characters in the North American version.

As far as I know, Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System does not add any new abilities to the game. It provides a new interface that divides the abilities and license boards into categories and job classes like what you are trying to do. Maybe you can check out what the different classes are from the walkthroughs for it.

for stealing, you might want to turn off gambits for that person and attack the target until it dies. Then you can turn gambits back on and repeat. The steal from someone with 100% HP is a good start, but like you said, it can cause alot of problems in bringing in too many monsters. The main problem in it i see is the fact that if you have a group, the stealer will change view after one has already been hit, leaving damaged creatures alive long enough to do some damage. Putting a gambit like Foe: HP< 100% -> Attack is a good idea, or you could use something like HP<50, HP Critical, Attack. I like using the first one so I can steal and kill each enemy at at time.

It's fun to play with jobs, but it's best not to let them tie you down. Like FFIII, the best thing you can do is take a look at the resources you have, and figure out best how you can allocate them among your characters. From there just look at the set of monsters you'll be fighting in the area and tailor your gambits according to them. Depending on the situation you might want to temporarily switch a character to a related job class.

Thanks that helped, but I still cheat sometimes when I put a party together that can't heal like Dark Knight, Green Mage, and Archer.

well it's good to give melee classes the item augments, potions can be extremely useful in many circumstances, and you would have these jobs using items anyway. Having lower level white magic on a green (or any for that matter) mage might also be a good idea that's techincally not "cheating".
