I kinda wanted to post this in the Starfox thread the other day, but it fits here too.

Gamevideos and Points TV had an interview with Dylan Cuthbert over in Japan. This man is apparently the mastermind behind the Super FX chip in the SNES, and it all started with his Gameboy game X. It was a 3D game on the original Gameboy.

Site with the interview here. It includes footage of the X game and some Starfox stuff.

It's pretty interesting how they talk about the history of it, and how gameplay elements from the scrapped 'Starfox 2' made it into following Starfox games. For example, the Strategy elements used in Starfox Command were all going to be part of Starfox 2 way back in the day.

Don't forget about the programming ideas for the camera being used in Super Mario 64.

With being able to edit the Smash Ball drop rate and the new appearance of Pity Final Smashes, I'm wondering if characters are still going to be able to only use one Final Smash per battle.

Were they ever said to only be able to get one per battle before? I must have missed that if they did.
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

    They did.

The Final Smash is a secret skill that can be performed but once.and only after obtaining an item called the Smash Ball, which is a precious item indeed.
So even the Pity Final Smash won't help much in a 99 stock battle.

I think what they might have meant there is once per smash ball.

yes definitely, because Samus uses a smash ball to become Zero Suit Samus, but then uses another one to get her suit back

I saw a video of someone playing it and he got a smash ball and did his attack and then another one appeared and he couldn't get it because the time ran out, but he was going for it.

I guess it's nice that they're explaining details about the Smash Ball. But with all the demo videos that people put up, it's a little redundant.

As for that X song, I have to say it's really awesome. I'll probably set that song playing on Final Destination. I wonder which game series they'll stick that X song with though. (I'm hoping it'll be Smash Bros. specific or with Starfox.)

True, but there was also a large amount of people angry about Sonic being in Brawl as well. Even though it wasn't as big as the group of people that did want Sonic in, it's still significant enough for them to have come up with a better update. (Or they could've postponed the Sonic update for later and just leave us with that 1 minute video presentation. That video was a good enough update by itself.)

That's most likely true based on what the gameplay videos have been showing.

The more Waddle Dees the better, as I always say.

Look out, it's raining Waddle Dees and Gordos! It's a shame they seem to walk/crash off the screen immediately. I'd love to have tons of the little guys hanging around afterward.

Part of that may be that the stage they showed it being used on is unsuited for it. Right now the final smash doesn't look too intimidating, but it may be better on different stages.

they just said there would be secret characters, as in, they won't be announced on the website.

At this point, it leaves it completely up in the air as to who will be in the game.

Having said that, there doesn't look like an awful lot of room on the screen to fit them all in if that's how big each character tile is.
Not my words Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine.
