YES!!!!!! I got the Katana from the EXP/LP giving lovely Werewolfs from Giza Plains-the dry I am so lucky, I have it with Balthier but since Ashe is my main attacker she has it when she got her Licence

How long did it take you to get it ? did you have to chain the werewolves ?
Me and my kids have dragon eggs:

judging by they are super rare (The katana that is) not very much time. When I went hunting the katana from them it took only 2-4 days. Oh i did have the grimore for them as well. I can't belive it took that long.
I managed to get 6 by chaining Werewolves. I found them useful right up to when I got the Dawn Shard; by then I began to find weapons with higher attack power that could also be paired with a shield.
But they are seriously sweet and much better than store-bought weapons for a long time.
It only took me about a half hour to steal one. ^_^
How do they compare to the gladius daggers you can also acquire at that time?
In my second game I chained werewolves for a while.. not terribly long.. not to level 40 like I have heard of some doing.
I never got a Katana(Kotetsu?), but did steal 3 gladius daggers, and was hitting for 400 damage or around there with them.
A Kotetsu is more powerful, if I'm not mistaken, but a Gladius is more effective against enemies who are vulnerable to Aero. Both are very shiny and very pretty. =D
Deathbringer is better than all other weapons mentioned in this thread.

A little later on, you need the barheim passage key(spelling is atrocious i know)
I stole 3 gladius daggers, used them all the way to the tomb in the desert, and a little further until I finally got deathbringers.

It seems to randomly replace a treasure chest in Special Ops 5.
