Default Linkin Park: Minutes to Midnight

Anyone else buy this CD yet. I got the VD/DVD set at target, adn I am really liking it. It is different than their old stuff, but in a totally acceptable way. It is a bit more chilled, and tends to carry more Politically charged lyrics.

I have listened to it a few times now, and all in all it seems very well thought, and put together. A couple 'whining" songs, but seeing as what the members have been through, it is no surprise really. Just feels like a real album of a band that is really growing up.

{edit} If a ck sees this, could the fix the damned spelling error on the subject line

I really didn't think I would like it after hearing What I've Done, but I bought it anyway. I'm actually REALLY enjoying it, more than either of their previous albums. You're right, they've really grown up. This is a much more mature album than their Runaway days. If they got rid of Given Up and What I've Done it'd be a really solid, generally whine-less album.

I'm also really impressed with all the new things they're doing with their music. Who knew Mike Shinoda could sing? My favorites are Bleed It Out and Little Things Give You Away.

The best part about this album is that I'm no longer embarrassed to say that I like Linkin Park.

At first I really didn't care for it all that much (preferring the older Linkin Park personally), but after a few listens I'm really starting to enjoy the album as a whole. Favorite tracks would have to be: Bleed It Out, Leave Out All The Rest, Shadow of the Day, No More Sorrow, and Valentine's Day.

When I start reading the words "mature" what it usually amounts to is a tone down of passion, a tune-up of guitar, a-typical riffs, and songs that generally require repeated listening to begin to like in terms of actually enjoying the song for being a song. From what I've heard, this is very much the case. Boring, boring, boring. Just like every other act out there. At least old school Linkin Park had a hook to them. These songs are just...there. Nothing special. Shame really. So many bands go this way it's mind boggling. It's like there's an unwritten rule that maturity = boring songwriting. Hey ho, I'll go back to listening to some Machine Head.

I am in the process of listening to it as I type. So far I've yet to be impressed. It might just be my constant onslaught of thrash/groove metal on my Winamp playlist, but this just sounds like generic Indie pop to me. Not even nu-metal, just middle of the road Indie. Still, that's what gets the sales these days.

I enjoy it, but I hate when artists bring politics into their songs. Seriously, leave it out... lol Funny I said that as I'm listening to Leave Out All The Rest, which I love.

But I truly do hate when bands go political. Luckily enough, it's not too much that I can't stand it.

I've loved everything they've done, and I've always really liked Mike Shinoda, Fort Minor is awesome too.

I really liked Given Up and No More Sorrow from the first listening and I wanted more Wake, even better if there were lyrics too!

I LOVE Linkin Park! It's the only time I actually PAY for my music. Except this time. I'm downloading the album as we speak. I feel bad, I really do. But not bad enough to pay (I'm sorry LP )

I've only heard the bonus track because I had to download it seperately, and I loved it. In just fifteen minutes I should have the rest of the album. From what I've heard, I think it'll be great, but I liked their old sound better.

I think I've figured out why I don't like this album. Not one to make a sweeping generalisation, but they've pretty much become a carbon-copy of My Crappy Romance. Since My Crappy Romance are rubbish, this album is rubbish. It's a nice little string of logic that makes total perfect sense.

(SPOILER)This is my opinion. Want to complain? Go ahead, not that I'll reply or anything.

The logical person in me wants to say that the album MtM is a deep exploration into the human psyche. It's themes of heartbreak and pain represent what many young adults feel in their everyday life.

The fanboy in me wants to say "Leave Out All The Rest is the best song ever!!!!!!!!!"

lmao! I really wish this were true, because then the money I spent on that MCR CD wouldn't have been a total waste of money.

    Cute.

I really like this album. Some of the songs took a few listens for me to really get into them but once i did i couldn't stop listening to them. My favourite songs are: Hands Held High, Bleed It Out and In Pieces.

I dislike Hands Held High, and it's annoying that so many people think it's one of the best of the album. It's like Kenji off of Fort Minor. I listen to music to get away from , to relax and not have to deal with real world problems for the time being. That, and I don't think most musicians should be putting political messages in their songs, unless that is what they do in all their songs and you know that's what you'll be getting. Picking up this CD, then hearing things concerning politics, pissed me off like.... Mosh on Encore for Eminem. Just no need for it, no matter what the view is.
