Indeed, one of the better PS2 RPG's. In addition, what other game can you battle the forces of evil with a Golf Club and a Frozen Tuna?
But even playing seriously, its loads of fun with a lot of different options. Excelent Story at that. Whats great is its Like FF, you don't need to play the previous ones to get the story.
To be honest, the overall story isn't amazing or spectacular, its all the Chapter specific scenarios that are amazing. My favorite one being Chapter 3: Crest, the Great Sage. Amazing Storytelling right there. The Idea of a Sage is Rather unique for its circumstances.
Other good RPG's include Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. Playing as two seperate people on and off, their two stories intertwine. Fun battle system and great Characters, such as Bebedora and Maku (I think thats his name.)
The Xenosaga series is awesome, though more story focused then Most games, so a lot of the time you won't be playing, but watching. And you need all three games to finally get whats going on. I did, however, love every moment of it.
A newer one thats fun is Enchanted Arms. Its on the PS3 now, but get it for 360 if you have one and don't intend to get a PS3.
If you want old school RPG's theres the older FF's, Earthbound, Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinestrals, Chrono Trigger, and Breath of Fire II. All great SNES RPG's.
