This makes be think of blood, either loss of blood (anemia) or love of blood (hemophilia)?

The hero's ally throw me off, I'm guessing it's either a comrade or an item.
And he may or not be positive.
I'm thinking this relates to Squall - and also relates to weither or not he is correct in his answer.
I'm thinking of Vampire Fang because of the first two lines....not to certain weither or not it's linked to Squall or his allies.
