Tidus left a game where he was the best player on the team, just to give Wakka a chance to shine. He could have told Datto, Jassu or other to leave. He knew he would die if Yu Yevon died yet he helped the others do it regardless. Without whining. Without even telling his friends, not to worry them.
Tell me just how this is being "self obsessed and big headed" ?
And the "Like I care" was in the context of him caring for bureaucratic stupid rules while someone's life was in danger. He didn't even know the person in danger was a pretty girl. He thought it was just an old geezer.
Tidus goofy laughs and falling on his butt and the whining are what you saw. Tidus bravery, self sacrifice and selfless help of his friends are what you glossed over.
