Games and books
In the old days there used to be special debate places assembled so ppl could discuss books, philosophy and alike. Nowadays forums are assembled so that people can express their own opinions about games. My topic theme is: are we witnessing a new step in debate evolution? And if so, is the everyday game replacing the everyday book, gamers instead of readers, players instead of characters?

You're on a forum about videogames. I'd expect videogame debate to be higher on the list than book debate. I'm sure the reverse is true of a Heinlein or Asimov forum.
Games are just a new media of spreading the information, as were the films a couple of decades ago. Books are still the oldest and the most efficient form though.
i think that like movies, games are replacing former media, not just because they're interactive, but because at this point it's more of a secular community for young people, though this is rapidly changing as gamers get older and older.

I used to read/play those. Some of them were very cool. I think the one I liked the most was the Black Blood Prophesy. It was one of the more linear tales from Fighting Fantasy, but the story itself was great.
fighting fantasy to me represents role playing at it's most pure. A novel in which you are the hero, and you determine the ending. Too many rpg's try be too cinematic these days, and loose that feeling of immersion and storytelling that the old school RPG's had.
No. There is no evolution in debate. Just because video games are becoming more prevalent on the internet does not mean they are offering up a replacement for books or any other form of entertainment medium. Every person I talk to that plays video games still enjoys picking up a book and getting lost in their words.
Man, I still have a bunch of those, and that exact book. xD
