Get on a raiding guild... Not a hardcore one, they are usually elitist jerks. Get on a casual raiding guild. They will show you the ropes. Raiding is fun if you do it with nice people
PS: With a wow-heroes 2470 gear score like you have, you can do pretty much all raids except icc 25 !

Festergut and Rotface look easy

From the limited experience I have with Festergut (two or three attempts late at night), it isn't necessarily difficult as long as everyone has an understanding of what they need to do. Rotface is supposedly the more difficult fight though and I have yet to attempt him at all.Festergut and Rotface look easy
Saurfang is fun. Gearing up is easy and mage is probably the most fun I've had playing a class so far.
Saurfang and Festergut are boo-o-o-o-ring as melee.
I can do both with my head resting on one arm, and just clicking my rotation. And yawn.
On Saurfang, range gets a little action with the beasts and tanks need to swap every so often, and even then, ranged can stay put if they can burn the adds fast enough with some kiting/slowing.
Rotface is much more interesting (read: frustrating) because it's all about controlling the oozes while doing high dps, so everyone needs to be on their toes to run out when they have mutating, kite their small ooze, avoid the aoe from puddles/vomit/big ooze and run out of the ooze explosion, and in that fight, unnecessary damage is punished harshly.
Haven't done putricide yet, we couldn't get enough people last week due to people working or having net issues due to the snow, but it seems like an interesting fight too with the add burning/kiting plus high dps.
And then there is Death

Yeah, pretty much. That said, cat dps is smurfing awesome.
Last night a friend and I pissed some tanks off during randoms. He's a lock, I'm a mage and we each pull around 8k dps and pull before the tank is ready. So mad.

We were mostly racing to see who would do more dps on each pull. He beats me for AOE but I destroy him by about 3k on bosses :x
Y'know, I may not be the best tank out there, but I have never had a DPS pull aggro from my primary target. I mean, if you guys pull before I attack, yeah, the mob will start attacking you, but once it starts attacking me, it never gets pulled off.
My nightmare as a tank is a group of powerful single target DPSers all focusing on different targets and ignoring kill order. Even that is largely not a problem in Heroics though, since if they are powerful enough to do that much DPS, the things generally die before they get to be a problem for the squishies anyway.
95 mounts so far. 2 more PvP (ugh) mounts to get, 1 more Tourney mount, and I am 500 gold away from the 8k mammoth. Not sure where to pick up my final one for the 100 achievement. Winterspring, probably, since getting Oculus as a random is too rare for me.

Also, I understand that worry. I had a DK tank that I played for awhile and I constantly worried about that sort of thing. It never happened but it was in the back of my mind almost constantly. Arcane mages have so many ways to get out and away from danger that me pulling doesn't really concern me at all. I only do the pulls when I know the tank personally and know they can handle it, so that helps.
