There is no if; online has already been confirmed.
Personally, I'm really looking forward to it now that some of the mystery behind the drum controller is gone. I was really up in the air on how that would turn out, and if it seemed cheap or was a poor simulation of actual drumming I might have decided not to buy the game at all. I'm still not certain about how good the controller will feel after hearing the pads are a sort of foam, but I think I'll be able to live with it.
Playing in a real band is much more fun.
